Jumping off furniture Has anyones baby hurt themselves jumping off the furniture? Maybe I am being too overprotective but Tobie is scaring the heck out of me. He will actually climb unto the arm of the couch (the highest point) to jump off and he doesn't just jump down, he jumps OUT... more of a flying leap! lol. I am so afraid of him hurting himself since he is so little. Should I be concerned? |
That would scare me!!! I'm so afraid they'll break there legs:eek: |
How big is he? Jackson can do this very easily but he is almost 10 pounds. |
yea it can be very dangerous,if hes bigger hes better off but it can be vry very dangerous for the lil ones...where are you lil missy??? she recently posted a thread about her baby who broke her leg...my bailee does that to,scares the life out of me and its hard to stop her  |
Last week at the vet they weighed him at 2.8 pounds |
Aww yeah that may worry me a bit with him being so tiny! |

With Gemma, that would scare the heck out of me.. i worry about her falling off the couch-so we always have to keep an eye on her.. but, she couldn't jump up, if she tried! she has stairs for the couch and the bed - and she flies up and down those babies, no prob! :) Avie can jump up and down...although i don't like her to(she has luxating patella's) ..she will use the stairs a lot of the time! ;) |

At that weight I would be worried too.. I usually try to keep plenty of cushioning at the bottom of the sofa just in case while puppies are up with us. My Brady is able to jump onto our bed and off again.. the other two have to be lifted up but will jump down. Course they are all a heck of a lot bigger.. just be careful and keep an eye out! |
Okay, so I have been wondering about this too. Baxter will jump off my bed by himself! He is about six pounds. I put a chair next to the bed and he will use that to get down, but he can never get back up! But where can you buy stairs? I haven't really looked, but I don't really know WHERE to look?? |
I worried about mine doing this too. Even if they seem to land fine, it just can't be too good for their little bones or joints. I have ramps and stairs around their favorite places now and they love to use them. No more worries. |
I believe it wasn't too long ago when CarlyBaby's precious little Beatrice jumped off the couch and broke her leg needing surgery as a result. Even if nothing happens now, in the long run, the stress on his knees will more than likely result in leg surgery, provided he doesn't seriously hurt herself any other way first. :( Doggy stairs would be best and hope he uses them. I'd be worried that he wouldn't be able to land properly and/or safely all of the time. |

We put pillows everywhere! Im totally paranoid of macy hurting herself!! Maybe overparanoid  Shes nearing 3lbs, and can jump like a champ, but the soft cushie pillows on the bottom of the couch makes me feel better. Much shorter of a fall. It may look messy, but thats what it is when you have lil un in the house :D |
