bottom teeth protrude Please could you help i have just purchased a male yorkie 7 months old i noticed his bottom teeth protrude or his jaw is bigger at the bottom but his teeth do show which looks like he is smiling is there anything wrong with this he as had his jabs and as been well looked after but i just wounderd if this was common, what causes it and should he need to have this treated. thanks |
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but Jackson has an overbite, his top jaw goes over his bottom jaw a little bit if you know what I mean. I call him my bucktooth boy. The vet said it wouldn't hurt him or anything, there's nothing you can do to fix it. She said the only thing with that is some of his top teeth are sort of poking into the bottom in the wrong place so he may have to have an adult tooth pulled if it bothers him. |
re bottom teeth protrude Its really hard to say but when you look at him his bottom teeth show as though he is smiling i have looked into his mouth and all his teeth look normal. so i dont know if this is a abnormalty with his jaw or his teeth. He is eating ok no problem there. the only way i can describe it is if you where to close your mouth and then stick your bottom teeth out over your top lip. sorry this sounds really silly but this is the only way i can describe it. thanks uksharon |
He sounds like he has an underbite. My Doodlebug has an underbite and I think it is the cutest thing ever. He always looks like he is smiling! :p |
overbite or underbite I have one dog with bottom teeth on outside of uppr teeth and one dog a new pup with front teeth over bottom teeth. I have been told that lower jaw develops slower than top jaw so this may correct with in the next two months. Vet says instead of pulling teeth they file those large pointy ones down so it won't poke upper jaw. You can't see the overbite like you can see the under bite. |
re bottom teeth protrude thank you so much for all of you that have replied for taking the time to answer my post.:) uksharon |
