Hi Everyone!

I have just had a very odd conversation with my housemate about our lil ones!
Were taking them to the groomers tomorrow and while she was on the phone to them the groomer asked what type of yorkshire terrier we had?

Forgive my ignorance but i thought there was only one type, granted you can get the ones with all the different colour marking etc, but i thought there was only one kind :confused:

Can anyone shed any light on this!??!

Lol.. your question made me laugh, as you're from Yorkshire!!

I'm with you, I have always thought there is only one kind of yorkie, other than the Biewer, which is officially just that now.. a Biewer. I must just add, before someone things I'm being mean.. that I love Biewers and would love to have one! Maybe one day, soon:rolleyes:

Maybe the groomer is talking about teacups or a teapot but they are just yorkies of different sizes.

The replies to your question should be interesting.:)

She's mistaken. Some are bigger, some are smaller, some have silk coats, some have cotton, some are blue/gold some are black/gold....but they are all yorkshire terriers.

Wonder if she meant, like, yorkie poo, yorkie doodle, or yorkie snoodle (is there one of those lol)? but I wonder what difference it would make, other than maybe the type of haircut it gets...Now I've got a question....My 4 1/2 month old yorkie is very sturdy, which I'm so glad off, but thought they were more delicate...She's very husky and square, and very strong in proportion to her weight and height (2 lbs. 14 oz)...Seems like my friend's yorkie (who is 3 now) is a more delicate dog....This doesn't matter, just wondering? Man, I love my yorkie!!!!

So what type did you tell her you had? :confused: I'd be curious to hear what 3 types she thinks there are. Male, Female or Altered? Puppy, Juvenile or Adult? Sleepy, Hungry or Playful? :rolleyes:

Some people think there are three classifications, standard, miniature and toy, since the poodle has these classifications. The yorkie has only one classification, and that's toy. They come in different sizes, with standard being 7 pounds and below. There are no other official classifications, and there is no such thing as a teacup, as far as an "official classification." You can say you have a toy yorkie, but for knowledgeable people that would be redundant, since all yorkies are in the toy group.

Wait, I just realized you are from Yorkshire, England, shouldn't you be telling us. Ask her what she meant!

I'm with Saphire. Only the American Yorkie, and Biewers from Germany. The Biewers are pure Yorkie bred by the Biewer family. They deliberately bred Yorkies with color variations to get the beautiful Biewer.. They are registe. Tucker's Momredr CKC. It's high time for the AKC to recognize them. They will eventually, I'm sure

Can you unscramble my first message? I am using my husband's laptop, and it's messing up. I said Biewers are registered with the CKC, and AKC needs to wake up and recognize them.
