Handling the heat I will be getting a girl puppy in April - her name is gonna be June Carter - and I want to know what the Ytalkers who have girls and boys do when the girl goes into heat? June's breeder says that I will have to get Cash somewhere else to live when she goes into heat, but he is neutered, so he will drive us a bit crazy - I haven't seen him with a girl-in-heat after he got neutered, but beforehand he drove me crazy (big reason for his neutering), but he cannot productively do anything to June. So, please tell me your experiences with neutered males and unaltered females? |
Do you plan to get June Carter spayed? This would take care of the problem. |
Hot Rod is neutered and my vet said that just because he is doesn't mean that the equipment is working. But I can't tell you what's what because I haven't gone thru it yet. |
It depends. She is the smallest girl in the litter. So, if she grows up to be tiny, I won't breed her. If she is a bigger girl, I will breed - pending health tests. So, no, I am not planning to spay her, but it depends on her size and the tests. I need to research both sides here... with an unaltered female, what do you do with the neutered male? |
This is off the topic, but I love the names!!! |
We recently lost our neutered male, but we did have to keep him away from our girls in heat, just as we did our unneutered male. Since you don't really have to worry about him getting her pregnant, you just want to make sure they aren't kept together when you are not there to keep an eye on them. |
