Help...need a good harness for my dog with collapsed trachea My Yorkie mix has collapsed trachea...she is also not very smart and pulls constantly while I am walking her. I have tried a couple different harness' and the only one that didnt choke her was a mesh material that velcro closed. The first time I tried it it came off of her with in minutes and she ran away. Im lucky I was able to catch her but I never tried that again. It wasnt anything I did wrong...it was just the harness doesnt withstand pulling. Then I bought the typical harness from Petsmart that is leash like material...unfortunately part of that goes around her chest and she chokes when she pulls on it. So, is there a good sturdy, safe harness out there. I am willing to pay a good price for it if anyone knows of one. |
collasped trachea I also have a three year old yorkie with same problem. Petcetera has a padded leather harness which does not touch throat area but is across lower chest and stomach. It does not bother the trachea area. |
We use step-in shoulder harnesses. They don't go near the trachea, and as long as the harness is properly adjusted, the dogs can't get out of them. I think a YT member makes them (I think her user name is Chattiesmom). |
We use the Buddy Belt (leather), which is a step-in harnesss. Step-ins avoid the neck entirely. Also, check out ChattiesMom - she makes step-ins as well and they're very nice! |
I love the Harness Dress, so so cute. |

go to the dresses, I think she has a red wrap around harness dress($10) and the one I got goes over the head(dress) and it's got skulls on it. I can't wait to get mine so I can take this little one out on a walk |
Sorry, should have read through all the posts first. I had just put down about harness dresses and sent her a website, your little dresses are adorable too |

I found that Phoebe still choked herself with the harness dresses, so I have the leashy step in harness that you can buy at Petsmart...you still have to be careful, though, there are different styles and only one style works without pressure on the throat! deb |

3 Attachment(s) I also suggest contacting chattiesmom about her silk step-in harnesses. Missy and I love hers. She doesn't even notice she's wearing it, and they are super cute and stylish. Here's pics... |
I AGREE with CHATTIESMOM harnesses!!!! they are the best!!! and shes the best to work with!!! ;) but I have only ordered really from her... sorry other posters... |
I use Chattiesmom's silk harnesses and love them. I just got the brassiere harness from Mitzi's Mom yesterday and walked Roxie and Cali with them and they were great. I would highly recommend both of these. |
