This friend of mine paid $1000 for this yorkie gal and was told she will mail within a week the AKC reg papers.
But what she got in mail was some Purebreed registry papers. And that first owner is no where to be found.
To cut the long story short. Is there anyway she can register her yorkie with AKC /CKC or some other good club?
Any help is appreciated. | This happens so much, people are told the pet is AKC, but when they try to register the pet, they find out, they were duped. I don't know if your state has any laws protecting consumers from this type of fraud. Was anything in writing saying that the dog was AKC? The AKC is the only legitimate registry in the United States, registering the dog with other registries means nothing. You need no proof of anything to register the dog with other registries, and some will register mixed breeds, and in those cases the "papers" mean nothing. Your friend paid prices of an AKC registered dog, and she essentially got an unregistered dog. I hope she reports the breeder to the proper authorities.
This is a great example of why people should register the dogs that they have been told are AKC, it's only $20.00, and it helps to eliminate those breeders who are lying to the public. We all have to help stop unethical breeders. |
