Do you keep a collar with ID tag on your Yorkie? I use a harness on Noelle for when she is on a leash but if she would some how sneak out, she would have no ID tag on her. What do you all do? |
I really dont keep Daisy's collar on her when we're at home. so I guess I would be in the same boat if she were to sneak out. She hates to have it on, so I just take it off once were in the house. |
I use to until Tobie started to chew on it so I don't anymore but he is microchip and he never goes out side unless I am with him so, but if he did go outside and I wasn't with him then I would. |
tags I keep a little collar on her at all times with her i.d. tag on it and out the harness on for walks. |
YES I DO!!!! And I strongly recommend you do too! I didn't have an ID tag on Bella when she was little, but after reading all the things that can and HAVE happened to people, I made it a priority to get Bella one right away. She is microchipped, so my thinking was, "if she's found and the person would actually give her back anyway, they would take her somewhere they could scan her to find me", but then I read a story a lady told on YT about hosting a dinner party, keeping her dogs in the back room "locked up" essentially, but somehow, when the guests were leaving, one of them got out of the room and out the door. Her neighbor found the dog and called the number on the ID tag......when she got the call, she didn't even know the dog was missing yet!! Because of the tag, she got the dog back that night instead of worrying all weekend, because it was a Friday or Saturday night, and the man most likely wouldn't have taken the dog anywhere to have it scanned until Monday morning. Good example of why a tag is a really good idea, even it the dog is chipped. AND, I also read about what should be on your tag too....mine says Bella (xxx)xxx-xxxx REWARD! NEEDS MEDS! *Microchipped* (this line is on the back) That way the person who finds her knows her name and my phone number and will be more likely to call me for the reward since A) the reward is coming for sure whereas he/she may or may not be able to sell her very quickly (if that thought ever entered into their mind that is) and B) they may be less likely to keep or try to sell a dog that may be sick. And, I just put "Microchipped" on the tag because I don't use the tag that comes with the microchip because it has the chip # on it, and I read where a person found a dog and because they had the chip # off the tag, were able to change the name and address on that tag so that it appeared they were the owner. When a dog is scanned, they can tell which company they need to call to get that information, so there's no reason to have the chip # or even the company name or # on the tag at all!!! Hope that helps! |

Thanks so much, I'm going to get one right away!! |
This is a subject that worries me alot. Tia is micro chipped also but I keep her ids on her harness for when we are walking. I wont keep a collar on her indoors as she got it caught in her mouth and lucky I was there to free it ,she was very distressed. |
Penny's collar is on all the time except when she is going to be in her crate for a while unsupervised-- then I take it off so that it won't be snagged. I walk her on a harness, but we always keep the collar on too so that she has her tags. |
Mine wear their harnesses with ID tags all day. I put it on them first thing in the morning, and only remove it in the evening when they get groomed. We are in and out all day long, so it's easier this way. Even though they only go to our deck area with a railing and gate, I feel safer knowing they have ID. |
YES ALWAYS - Two of mine sneaked out of the backyard and thank God they had tags on their collars - that's how the lady that found them found me. :) |
Layla has her harness on all the time unless we are home for the night or she is sleeping in her crate. Her tag has Her name Our phone number NEEDS MEDS Microchipped |
I leave a colar and all their tags on. I use their harness only for walks. I have a fenced in section in our yard,so i let them run around free. |
Callie always has one on except bath day because I wash it by hand and set it to dry overnight and the next morning she will run to it and wait for me to put it on her once she some how got it and brought it to me to put on her. If the collar is tight enough they shouldnt get there mouth stuck in it but I'm not saying so tight they choke I think the vet said you should be able to get two fingers between there neck and the collar |
