What are the chances of success? Hi I'm new here and I have enjoyed reading all the info everyone has posted. I was looking for info that would maybe help me with my future addition to my already established pet family. I have 4 parrots and a male maltese. All of which are very well behaved and house-trained. Yes, even the parrots. I am rescuing a 3 yo female yorkie who is NOT house-trained. I'm reading here that yorkies are known to be very difficult to train, in this area. I guess I'm asking, if anyone out there has adopted an older yorkie and was successful in house-training them? I'm looking forward to having her here with me and my babies (feather and fur) but I need to know, if I have a quicksand of a chance on making a lady out of her (modestly speaking). All suggestions will be gratefully accepted. :aimeeyork |
I think with lots of love and PATIENCE you can do it. It will be trying but well worth it. Are you home most of the time? |
Yes. I agree LOTS AND LOTS of Love and Patience is needed, that I have plenty of, but its not me I'm worried about :) I am at home most of the time and will gladly be here 24/7 if need be. |

Good luck. I bet you enjoy your family. I had a maltese, macaw and a cockatoo. Loved them all. RIP my kids. |
Thank you Jacqulyn that sounds like a plan. I will put it in action as soon as she gets here. Thanks again. |
Thanks donnarod, I do enjoy my gang. There is never a dull moment. Macaw,Cockatoos and Amazons with a delightful cotton ball running around (with a soon to be trouble) makes for a lively abode. I'm sure you have a few good stories of your own. I'm sure they shared your love. |

Welcome to YT! :wavey: I think it's possible if you have a plan before you bring her into your home. Love, consistency & praise goes a long way |
