Have you asked your vet what they thought? I would guess there is a little Chi in there somewhere. |
I think I see a little Chi too. |
I took her to the vet today and the vet said she looks as if she is part chi, but because she is so young it is hard to tell. She said her coloring is that of a yorkie and her coat and face looks chi. She also said that she may be fully yorkie, but just not within yorkie standards. (sometimes that can happen in litters)Her demeanor was neither that of a yorkie or chi. The best bet is to do a DNA test. Wow. I decided to name her Diva. She was the Belle of the ball today. Everyone commented on her and her loving personality. Especially when she would roll over to have her tummy rubbed. We went shopping and I brought her all sorts of things. I don't know who was happier me or her. She received the attention while I smiled happily and shopped. Yes I am in love. |

So did the vet say they'd do a DNA? How much does it cost? I'm asking because I didn't think it cost that much. Little Diva is the love of your life...there is no denying that. She is cute as a button...I'm going to say that she is 100% yorkie...and 100% adorable. |
The DNA test cost $200.00. I told them to let me think about it and I'll let them know on the next visit in 3 weeks. The ironic part is, now I'm starting to see pictures of 100% AKC registered yorkies that look like her. I saw a picture of a litter and all of the puppies had a typical yorkie look( at least the one people are use to) and it had one male puppy that looked just like her. I saw about 4 different puppies all together from different litters with her look. |
I guess time will tell if you decide against the DNA...as she grows, you'll get a better idea. They change so much from what they looked like as puppies when they are older. Just enjoy the puppy stage as it really doesn't last long. |
She is so cute and my guess is that you will love her no matter what! She is a lucky little girl to have you for a mom!!:) |

Couldn't help it, i had to know for sure. i got the DNA test. She is over 75% Yorkie and 10-19% Chihuahua. |
But she is 100% yours right and you love her right? She certainly is a doll baby!!!! I would definately go back to breeder with the results and if they are AKC the pups from this litter I would report it to them! Whatever the outcome she is very blessed to have you for her mommy!!!! |
Wow, well, she's mostly Yorkie - no wonder there were so many different posts as to what she actually was. I agree, you should go back to the breeder and make sure they know you did not get what you paid for, and I would also call the AKC and find out if there is anything you can do. From what I understand, the DNA test they do is to verify that the Sire and Dam recorded on the litter application are actually the Sire and Dam of the puppy. They just use markers from the parents' DNA and do not do a test to determine the "breed" of the dog. Based on your test results, it is entirely possible that the parents recorded on the application are the actual parents, but that one of the parents is 1/2 chi. So, I'd jsut call and see what you can do. |
