"possible problem behaviors" label I took Harley to the vet today to get his shots, the doctor asked me how it was going, the last time I was in they had their “behavioral coach” call me after our visit because I was telling him how dominant Harley can be and just wanted some suggestion on how to integrate my two dogs (we have had Samson since July and he is the total opposite of Harley). Anyways when the doc flipped back in Harley’s chart he had written “possible problem behaviors”. I really do like this vet and have had great experiences with them but I was a little offended. Yes Harley is spirited and more stubborn than Sam and I have had to get creative in showing Harley the ropes but he isn’t a Cesar Millan case or anything, he is just a puppy with a stronger personality. I came home and told my daughter, poor thing he has this label and when he starts school everyone will see him as the problem child, his teacher will automatically think he is bad. He’ll have this label for the rest of his life. While I was joking it really is kind of sad that after one visit this would be indicated in his chart. :( |

Lol, he could have just wrote down "yorkie" I think that stands for "possible behavioral problem." :D Seriously, I'm kind of impressed with the vet, and I like this type of thinking. We bounce the word "holistic" around a lot, but it use to mean that doctors looked at the "whole" of the being, and not one symptom, more of a mind – body connection. So he's noting behavioral problems, and might keep this in mind if other symptoms come up. Sometimes it takes a whole range of symptoms before a problem can be diagnosed. It's just with Yorkies; behavior problems seem to be the norm. :D Joey's a well behaved little guy, but he does have a mind of his own, and is more challenging than any other dog, I've known. I really think it's great they have a behavioral coach that helps people, behavioral problems are the number one reason, dogs are rehomed. The chart note was probably just so that the behavioral coach would give you a call. |
