Stink Bugs I am so sick of these bugs...one was just stuck on my leg!!! These things just dont die and HOW do they get into the house??? ARGH Yuck! Whoever brought these things into the country should be in jail...FOREVER |
I'm not familiar with 'Stink bugs'. Not sure if we have them here in NY. What do they look like? |
I don't like bugs. I am marginally tolerant of a few (ladybugs, preying mantises, dragonflies, some butterflies...that's about it) but for the most part, I consider them horrifying. I got the shock of my life when I moved to South Africa. I don't know what it is, but the bugs here are aggressive and they are HUGE! I now have an exterminator on speed dial on my cell, and he comes out and sprays my house twice a year. The roaches here are big enough to put saddles on...and they run AT you in broad daylight!! We have a thing here called a rain spider that looks like a daddy long legs crossed with a hairy wolf spider, and they are about 4" in diameter! Then there is the baboon spider that is the size of a toddler's hand and has fangs .5 cm long that eats mice and birds...and is poisonous! Add huge mosquitoes and flies that fly under your glasses and try to fly up your nose or into your eyes, and you can see how challenging the insect population here is. Stink bugs are nasty, but wouldn't you rather have them than spiders that eat mammals and birds?? I'm just wondering what Puddin' is going to do when she finds them! |

Nasty things. |
No, these things are flat, really weird looking and NOTHING kills them...they fly around buzzing and if you kill them they give off a really foul odor. I am in PA and this place is just taken over by them. |

They have flying cockroaches in Durban, my husband's home town. They are about 3" long and terrifying to have them fly at you, but at least they don't stink when you kill them |
From both of your descriptions, we don't have a bug like that up here. But since insects are migrating all the time, it's probably only a matter of time. Ugh...they sound awful. :thumbdown |
Ewww..... i dont like any kind of bugs! Yuck! |
1 Attachment(s) Hi all, I hate those stink bug also . I believe they are called stink beetle or clown beetle. The type we have in NV and CA look like this: |

Nope those aren't the one's we have in Pa. They're here year round!! They're kind of greyish brown and have a hard shell. They fly around my lights. Otherwise you catch them walking on the walls!!They're triangle shaped and have 6 or 8 legs and crunch when you kill them and omit the most intense vulgar smell that lasts awhile. We kill them and flush them down the loo!! My Gr. Son is scared to death of them!! Yuck, I like ladybugs, butterflies, and really scream @ the rest of the bug population!! I call my Hubs and say, "RORY KILL IT!!!!" and so do our 2 girls...:thumbdown |
I grew older in Western Pa & we had stink bugs...they sucked, but not as bad a horse flys! In Fla...we have hurricanes...they suck too. |
We have stink bugs too!! We're in central NJ & the picture is not the stink bugs we have here either they sound the the ones in PA. Their bodies are kind of shaped like a shield & they are flat & brownish grey. I have these poofy little curtains in my kitchen & I've always filled them w/ tissue paper to make them poof properly & the last time I took them down to wash the tissue paper had tons of stink bugs & my husband had been saying I think there's something bad in the fridge & I keep saying theres nothing bad in there! So these stupid disgusting yucky bugs apparently give off their gross smell whenever they feel like it! UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH they make my skin crawl!!!! |
1 Attachment(s) Hi, is this the type of stink bug you have? |
OMG! We have them here too. I absolutely hate them. They will come through window cracks or whatever little crack they can find. They were even coming through my heating vents so i put screen over the vents and when the heat pump kicks on, i can see and hear them hitting the screen. They fly around the lights in the house. I live in west virginia and i heard that they fly over in a helicopter and dump them out everywhere. They say its for the turkeys to eat...i aint got no turkeys in my house LOL...is there another name for these little bugs, they look like ladybugs to me with the stink. |
