Finally bonded with 2nd dog I posted a while ago that we got our 2nd yorkie at the end of Jan, his name is Harley, he is very cute but I had a hard time bonding with him. He is a little agressive and has been very dominate over my resident dog Samson. Because I felt very protective over Samson I had a hard time bonding with Harley. All of the responses were to give it time and gave some good feedback. Well Harley has been home for a month now and I have FINALLY bonded with him. While he is still a stinker, tries to be dominate and is still jocking for the alpha male in the house I have come to appreciate his personality and Samson has learned a little more to stand up for himself and Harley is learning when Sam has had enough. I am glad we have two little ones and two is more fun, work, entertainment than the one. :D |
That's great!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! :):):) |
Glad to hear it is working out. Sometimes it just takes a little time. |
Ya these little ones can be a handful for sure! For each new dog I took home, there have been an adaptation period. But they are now all getting along(most the time )... And you should see the 5 of them playing and running around together! lol It's craziness in my house and I love it !!! :D |
Glad to hear you love your little doggies! :) I remember your original thread. It's nice to learn about a happy ending. |
Congratulations, that's wonderful news! :cheer: It took me a little while to bond with my pup too, sometimes it just does I think. We cant all be instantaneously in love! lol ongrats again girlie! |
What great news!! |
thats great news! congrats! how are the 2 dogs doing together? I have a maltese age 5 and when we got our yorkie Madison at age 5 mos, now 4 mos later not a whole lot has changed. Madison is all puppy and wants to play and lexie just barks and barks at her. Yet they take walks together well. Sleep 'near' each other and ride in the car well together. As long as madison doesn't want to play with Lexie all is fine!! Both girls are sooooooo sweet and I'm so glad I have them both in my life. I hope its just a case of Madison taking a while to learn her boundaries with Lexie. :animal-pa |

The thing I am working on the hardest right now is Harley takes over eating time. Sam will step back while Harley eats but Harley will eat both his food and Sam's food. So I have had to do the pack leader thing during eating times. Really though they are getting along a lot better and this has helped me to relax! |
cris funny you should mention the eating routine. we have to do the same thing with madison and lexie. Madison will eat both bowls of food so I have to watch them. Often I will put madison in her crate with her food ( leaving the door open) she feels comfy eating in there and lexie won't go in there. But Then lexie's not usually the problem. then there are days I will try to put both bowls within proximity of each other and they both take turns going back and forth eating out of each others dish. Its hard when they both weigh 5 lbs and you want to be sure both get the nutrients they need. so to fend off hypoglocemia and such. |
Congrats on the great news.:) |
