Pray for Veer Yesterday my hubby accidentally step Veer on the head. He said he avoided him the first time but Veer keep running to his feet and he stumbled.:eek:.I heard a scream from Veer I turned and looked Veer was on his side shivering. I picked him up and hugged him. Placed him on the carpet, while I found out what happen from my hubby and try to think what need to be done next. We called the vet and rushed over to the hospital. They took x-ray everything was ok. Thats a big relief. Vet said he will be ok no damage and he might just be in shock and pain. We he for soe reason gets worst bring him in. We came home. After 3 hours from the accident he opened his bigger, yawned ( OMG the first yawn of his, I broke down and cried and cried ). Anyway he made good progress. He is eating and back with his biting our toes. Not running around like always I am sure he is on the right track. Veer used to love hanging around my hubby before and only comes to me to curl up and sleep and wants food . But since this incident Veer stays close to me. Another thing Veer is not as aggressive as he was before ( that might change in few days I suppose ). Pray for my Veer to make sure he recovers both physically and emotionally. Thank you for reading. |
Your husband must feel just AWFUL! I think Veer will forget about it & soon. Maybe hubby wants to be the one to feed him for a few days. |
I am so thankful he is alright. That had to be an awful experience. I have a friend that was a large woman, she stepped on her yorkie and it died. We are so careful walking around, Tricksie is always close. |
Thanks I will tell my hubby to feed Veer. My husband feels really awful especially seeing me breaking down, he knows Veer means the world to me. He said just keep Veer away from me. I told him no I wont do that, we just have to be extra careful. We have 2 daughters age 15 and 13 both are studying abroad and gets to be with us from April to June only :( So Veer is the son we never had, so to speak |
Thank God he's alright! I'm sure Veer will be his old self in a few days. I hope your husband doesn't beat himself up over this - it was just an accident. I'm so glad you got him to the vet right away, also. Keep us updated! |
Glad that Veer seems to be on the mends. I feel for your hubby as I have kicked mine several times when they've been running around my feet. Just last night I kinda stepped on Maggie, heard her let out a tiny yelp and by the time I realized she was there, I took another step and she went flying about 3 feet across the floor!:eek: She was okay so I made like it was a game and got down on the floor with her and played "rough house" with her for a few minutes. She jumped up and started jumping around and wagging her little tail. Phew! They are so quick! |
Oh god! I am so traumatized as it is I am so worried the bliss Veer brings to us especially to me will be taken away. Veer is so tiny ( 2 LBS at age 3+ month ) but he has an ego and energy of a lion. I dont know if other Yorkies are same as well. Thank god I had enough sense not to blame my hubby or act in a way makes him feel guilty. I feel for him, I know Veer doesnt leave my hubby alone especially when he is rushing to get ready for work in the morning. Veer runs around barking and biting my hubby on his toes.( it hurt, I got it few time ) He gets more. |

I too am so, so careful and put a bell on my baby so everyone knows she's underfoot. Glad Veer is okay!!!!!! |
Oh, I'm so glad to hear Veer is ok. How awful your DH must feel!! We got puppy bells from PetSmart to put on Gracie Ruth and Yogi's collar when they were little, as my DH could never learn to do the Yorkie Shuffle. :D Perhaps a bell on him will help your DH to know when he's close by. Also, like some others have said, have your DH be the one to feed him for a few days. Treats, meals, walkies, etc...it'll help Veer see that good things come from Daddy too. |

:coolsmileThank you all! Update on Veer. Its been 26 hours since that accident. well he is sleeping alot. Still wants to stay close to me. He is alright. Teresa, Veer has a bell on him. I looked every where I didnt find one that I like. ( i hate the bells sounds like the one cats wear ) I called my mum in Malaysia and she mailed me a small brass bell with tribal designs on them:animal36:coolsmile Looks like I have to train my DH to do the "Yorkie Shuffle" |
ah yes, the yorkie shuffle... we have it down pat in my house! I never pick up my feet when I walk in my house. My boys have been kicked a few times but never stepped on. I guess its better to kick them than step on them, but with the shuffle its a soft kick, they are never hurt. thank goodness! Im glad Veer is doing better! :) |
I have seen alot of these injuries and you need to go buy a little bell and put it on his collar until he gets a little bigger. Good luck and glad to hear everything is OK with VEER... |
Yep, time to teach hubby the "Yorkie Shuffle". I made my kids and hubby learn when we got Missy :D I also discourage Missy from playing with our feet. It doesn't keep her from following me around all day, but at least if she's not playing with my toes there's less of a chance of hurting her. I'm glad Veer is OK. It's scarey when our little ones get hurt. :( |

And I wish you better luck teaching your DH the Yorkie Shuffle then I had with mine. Some tricks just can't be taught to some old dogs. :scratchhe :rofl28ib: |
Aww I'm sorry that happened!! Your hubby must feel so bad!! Good thing your furbaby is ok. Well last week my hubby threw peanuts hot dog toy at peanut and it hit peanut right in the face ( peanut i guess doesnt have reflex's like a cat ) peanut was soooo messed up after that he wouldnt go near his new toy..even if it was on the ground he would walk all the way around the house just to not walk by it, and he was really if'ie around tom and he loveeeees his daddy !! Well it lasted about a day and everything was back to normal. I think the same with you!! Give him a little time and he will get better. Just show him that daddy is still a nice guy :D |
