Full grown tea cup yorkie
 

ok so i know there is a TON On here, but my boyfriend would like to see what a full grown TEACUP yorkie looks like.. can someone post one for me? Thanks!!

There is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie so I guess I'm not sure what you are asking for exactly :confused: Are you looking for pictures of a small adult yorkie? I dont think you can really tell size of a yorkie just by a picture of them, unless there is something else in the picture with them that you can compare to...but a smaller yorkie ought to look no different than a larger yorkie.

No reputable breeder uses the term "Teacup" Yorkie.

The BYB's and Mills use the term, in order to charge a higher price.

i used to call small size dogs teacups too. but now i know there is no such thing. basically they just call them that because they are small. it's more like a marketing thing. a lot of people do not like that term because it is associated with certain breeders not caring about the health consequences and only breeding for small size as they can sell the small yorkies for more money because people do not know any better, and small dogs are cute.

teacup is a marketing term

it gets you attention and gets people to spend tons more money (usually) for the runt of the litter, which in most cases is the most sickly and needs round the clock care just like infants

Like the other posters said... there are no such things a mini tiny or teacup yorkies...

I have a full grown Yorkie and she is 3 lbs and some ounces cant recall now... but she is a small Yorkie, not a teacup...

Any breeder that purposely breeds for very small puppies or advertises as "teacups" is NOT a reputable breeder. It is against the Yorkshire Terrier club of America's code of ethics for any breeder to use the word "teacup" as it is a deceitful marketing term..it's an automatic red flag to run far far away from a breeder. These breeders deceive people that don't know any better into spending more for a dog that is supposed to stay tiny... I know people who have bought "teacup yorkies" (not knowing any better at the time) and their yorkie grew to be up to 15lbs... The standard for the Yorkshire Terrier is up to 7lbs, and most breeders prefer to produce dogs that will be 4-7lbs in size (still VERY small for a dog). Yorkies that stay smaller than that are at increased risk for injuries and sometimes have a health problem such as a liver shunt that is causing them to stay so small. If you are truly wanting a really tiny yorkie, be sure to buy from a reputable breeder that just happens to get one that stayed small.

If you are interested in purchasing a tiny Yorkie, sometimes called a Teacup,
Micro Mini, Teenie, or any other name that means “extra small”, there are

use of the words “teacup”, “tiny specialists”, doll faced, or similar terminology
by its members, and for good reason.

All breeders may occasionally have an unusually small Yorkie (hopefully healthy),
though no responsible breeder breeds for this trait. Many breeders prefer a
general weight range of 4-7 four pounds believing that size retains desired Toy
qualities while maintaining optimum health. The Yorkie Standard states weight
"must not exceed seven pounds" and as a prospective pet owner you should
realize that even at 7 pounds, the Yorkie is still a small dog. (Females weighing
less than 5 pounds are considered by most breeders to be unsuitable for breeding.)

Special circumstances often come with extra tiny dogs. They are extremely
susceptible to both hereditary and non-hereditary health problems, including
birth defects that may go undetected for a long time. Other common
problems may include, but are not limited to, diarrhea, vomiting, along with

Small ones are more likely to have poor reactions to anesthesia and die from
it. Tiny dogs are more easily injured by falls, being stepped on and being
attacked by other dogs. These health problems nearly always result in
large veterinary bills.

Please take this into consideration and make purchasing a healthy pet your top
priority, not size. The “novelty” is certainly not worth the pain, heartbreak, or
extra expense. Remember, all Yorkies are comparatively small. The most
important thing is finding a healthy puppy that will grow into a healthy adult,
especially since you looking at an 11 to 15 year commitment with your Yorkie.

No we are not looking for a teacup yorkie, i was just wondering what a full grown small yorkie would look like. My Bella just turned 1 and she is 7 pounds, im wondering if she will get bigger. I ask, because she was sold to me as a teacup and ever since then i am hearing different things about the term "teacup". thank you very much for all the info though, I would for sure make sure to look into all this when i buy my next yorkie. Thanks!

Hello, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Yep, everything that has been said is true of the word teacup. It is just that....a word. There is only one standard in the size of yorkies; that is in the 3-7 lb range. No such breed as a teacup (tiny) yorkie, a teapot (larger than standard) yorkie or a "toy" yorkie. Whenever someone asks me or speaks of a yorkie being a toy or teacup, I am quick to correct their error. I have come to "highly dislike" the term teacup, only because it usually means someone is trying to sell and/or breed teeny tiny sized yorkies, more often than not for higher prices, and which many times will result in health issues for the dog.
At 7 lbs, your Bella is a perfect weight for a yorkie. My guess is that at 1 year of age, she will stay right around that weight give or take a few ounces. She most likely won't get any bigger, but may fill out a little. Glad to have you here with us, stick around and you'll learn lots more about this wonderful breed!
