Question about spraying?? Hi there everyone, I am very new to this site. I have been cruising about reading about everyone's little angels. My fiancee and I are excited to be have somewhere to go now. We are parents to a new yorkie, his name is "Dega". We are currently living with my soon-to-be in-laws (WOW! eye opening) and his mother is concerned that our unneutered male puppy will spray on her carpet and furniture. Dega is 6 1/2 months old. Do they have a tendency to spray? I am only aware of cats doing that. Help me with input please. Wendy **Dega's mom** |
hello and welcome., you came to the right site to learn about the yorkies i have a female and i dont know about spray, but i do know they like to mark their territory.. |
Finnigan really likes to mark his territory. He picks assorted corners in the house and makes his rounds to them. Have you had any trouble with Dega marking so far? Finnigan didn't start marking until he was about 10 months old I'd say. If she's worried about him marking while you're away I'd think about buying some belly bands to use while you're gone. There are several YT members that sell them! |
A lot of males and some females do mark. Neutering will reduce the probability but it is still possible. |
I'd get him neutered now, before he ever starts marking. That's the best way to prevent it. Once he starts marking, he may not stop after he is neutered. If you keep him intact, he will most likely start marking and you may not be welcome houseguests. ;) |
Wow!!!! Do you know the difference between in-laws and outlaws? Outlaws are wanted:lol tears My mother-in-law is the same way!!! |
