puppy classes, heaven or hell? Well I'm taking the plunge tonight to take Tia to her first puppy class.Although shes brill at the sit, stay, lay ect she just gets so easily distracted when were out on walks. She has to say hello to everyone in sight when shes off the lead! (other dogs included). At first I thought ah shes so friendly which she is but Im afraid this is going to get her in danger. I could be right down the other end of a field and she will shoot off if she sees someone , say hello and then run back. That person could easily snatch her or have an unfriendly dog. So tonight is the night Im hoping for her to get it out of her system meeting so many tonight lol .Please wish me luck Im sure it will be her heaven and my hell lol:Puppy2: |
good luck! i'm debating taking my 6 mo old yorkie to puppy classes. he is pretty smart and knows come, sit, stay, leave it...but I was thinking more for socialization with other dogs. But I don't know. We've done a meet up w/ just yorkies recently and he loved it, so maybe it's unnecessary. Okay, I'm talking myself out of it. I have the same concerns you do, about larger dogs being in the class. |
I bet you both have a great time! |
Most puppy classes, she will be leashed at all times. I believe that once she hits advanced classes, then it will be more off leash training. They will teach you there on how to handle her when she is being "too friendly" and you dont' want her to be. That's what puppy classes are for! |
We have just had our 3rd puppy class (out of 8) and it's going great. We love it and are really glad that we decided to do it. We definitely debated about it but it turns out we have learned alot as well as Ginger. They send us home with tips and homework and it's cool to see her progress each week. I bet you had a great time! Can't wait to see your update. :D |
