Merrick products (pig ears and hooves) I was searching their website to order some flossies and noticed they have ears and hooves, are these good for yorkies? |
I once got Gracie another brand of Hooves. As she chewed on it, it broke into small pieces, almost sharp shards some of them were. I was worried they would get stuck in her throat, cut her mouth or she would choke on them. I threw it away and have refused to buy her another one, of any brand. I also noticed in my local pet store that they have snouts as well. Gross! |
I haven't tried anything but the sticks, and I'm so happy with them there doesn't seem any reason to try something new. They seem just the right size, and when Joey is chewing one he holds it every which way in his mouth I can hear the scraping back and forth over the teeth. The end get soft and stringy, which is almost like a flossing action when he pulling the little shreds off. The only thing I don't like is that I have to hold them for him, although he will chew them on his own, every night he insists on lying on my stomach while I hold his Bully Stick, my poor arthritic fingers, get so tired. :D |
A lot of dogs adore pig ears. I tried a couple with Thor, and he would lick them, but he never got around to actually eating them. Just be prepared for the fact that they look like exactly what they are, ears. They have cartilege, and they smell like pork. |
I buy hooves for Cash all the time. He loves them, they last forever and don't smell. They freaked my sister out after she learnt what they were, but the dogs love them. I haven't had any problems with splintering, as a matter of fact, I haven't had any problems with them except for the occasional 'eeeooouuuwww!' |
They hooves I bought I found to be very hard. I was concerned about Lola damaging her teeth. I buy only flossies and bully sticks now. |
I would stick to the bully sticks: PetDiets |
