Discouraged...I don't know what to do. SO...I want a yorkie (obviously ;)), and in oregon I'm having a VERY hard time finding one that isn't 1200+ dollars. I just don't have that much money to spend on one right now. I know animals are expensive but there has got to be a quality breeder out there who breeds for less than that. I don't know. I'm seriously missing the companionship of a dog though. I had 4 chihuahuas when I moved out of my moms place, but they were her dogs and I couldn't take them with me. Can someone give me some kind of hope that maybe someday (i've been looking for TWO MONTHS) I'll be able to find the baby of my dreammssss? Another question...if I find a breeder halfway across the country in my price range..is shipping a healthy option for the puppy? Or is that a no no? (I know with chihuahuas that shipping is a bad sign...just a question!) Chella |
my baby was only 800? :) its hard to find them that cheap though- why dont you get a mix ? They tend to be cheaper. |
That's one of my problems too. I mean I can get the money to get one but I wish I can find one less than that |
What price range are you looking for? I think 800-1000 is pretty fair for a well bred Yorkie. Don't get discouraged, you will find your fur baby soon. :) |
You might want to think about an adult dog? There are serveral available and less spendy then a puppy? Check with some breeders. Do your homework. Just an idea. |
I know how it is trying to find a beautiful, healthy Yorkie! Be sure it is from a reputable breeder. i'd try looking for a breeder through the AKC website. And from one you can drive to and see. Meet the breeder and the parents of the pups. THen it is important to have a health gaurentee. Puppies are going to be more expensive when they have papers, been gentic tested, vaccines, contracted, and from a reputable breeder. Your better off saving the money and waiting. You could also look in the Washington area. I would not settle for less, because it could end up into a heartbreaking choice later down the road. In my opnion I would not have A Yorkie baby shipped. It would be best to fly over yourself and then pick the baby up. :aimeeyork |
I have noticed that the ones in the newspaper are way more chaper( like 500-800) but do you guys think it's a good idea getting one from there. |

I also was looking for a yorkie puppy but I got an adult yorkie instead. I got her from a breeder who was no longer able to take care of her. It was the best decision I ever made. Try doing a search on Petfinder for yorkies, there are so many yorkies waiting to be adopted. It's way cheaper too. You can also talk to breeders who are looking for homes for their yorkies who have been retired from breeding. That is how I find my yorkie. My yorkie still looks like a puppy and she is 7 yrs old, I guess that's why there are so darn cute. They stay in a state of perpetual puppydom :p. |

you could try petfinder.com. They are a lower price generally if you want to adopt one.:) |
