Taking down the Expen-suggestions? I was hoping the be able to take the expen down since we've had it up for a little overa year now. I have left the 2 of them loose for the last few nights with little incidence. Well, last night Hot Rod bark pretty much all night (after I went to bed) at 4:00 after putting them back down from a previous barking episode. and they both had accidents, 1. in the hallway and 2. at the bottom of the stairs (gated off). anyone have any suggestions on how to get them used life outside of the pen? They are loose during day when we are out and they do fine. I don't know why they seem to be having a problem at bedtime. Is it because they know we are home? I have been home and doing things upstairs for hours at a time (like painting) without any problems. Thanks. |
Some of the little buggers just want to sleep with you. That may be why their having accidents. They're trying to give you a hint.:) |
Unfortunately that's not an option. Hubby does not like animals in bed. Kitties were never allowed either. :( |
I feel for you on the bed thing, as my husband is the same way...thought about kicking him out, as Barley takes over less of the bed then he does. For some reason he's always on my side. LOL ;o) As far as your potty issue at night time...do you let them have access to water and food all the time? If so, you may reconsider as if they have a scheduled feeding then they are more regular on #2's and instead of water leave some ice in their bowls at night time. So they won't fill their blatters and need to empty them at night time. Maybe if you leave a tv or radio on low it might help them bark less. I don't know as I haven't had that issue. Sorry. Good luck and let me know how it goes. |
I got rid of my x-pen a few months ago. Piper did start sleeping in our bed and has never had an accident or asked to go out in the middle of the night. Since this is not an option for you why don't you try putting doggie beds in your bedroom. This way the babies can be near you yet not in your bed. |

Gee, never thought about kicking him out. lol. They are usually good with potty-they have 2 pads available to them. This was just a fluke thing last night. I am guessing it was they didn't want to be left alone last night. Hot Rod has been barking at first when I go up to bed and I tell him to settle down and he usually does. Haven't tried the radio, we did this when Hot Rod first came home, maybe I'll try this again. Thanks. |
