We are moving. We had a fire over a year ago and we are moving back to our home next week. Any tips to help Romeo with the move? |
Before we moved into our new house last year, we brought the boys over several times just to snoop around. Each time we put belly bands on them and thank goodness we did. They are both neutered but still lifted their leg to mark a few times. When moving day came, they were already familiar with the house so there was very little adjustment. But we kept belly bands on for the first few days as a precaution. Also, while the movers are packing up, be sure to keep Romeo in a safe room, out of the way! :) Good luck! |
When chester and I moved into a new apartment, I would take him over a couple of times to get him used to it. I took him to a friends house on moving day so he would not get upset, too much going on. I went and got chester after most of the moving was done, and I made sure his bed and water and toys were around for him. I spent extra time with him after I moved. The dog fancy magazine had an article and they said the same things that I had done. |
If you can bring your pup there for "supervised" visits that's great before the move don't bring him in when everything is being moved around ... because this WILL upset him bring him to a safe place that he knows while you move out and in then when things are IN PLACE bring him in let him sniff around while you watch him and corral him when he's not supervised because he WILL mark but just time will settle him in |
I moved twice with my first Yorkie, Toby. Each time I brought him to my new place a few times before I moved in. Both times he adjusted fine. P.S. Make sure his tags are updated with your new address. |
