Little Yoshi has been through so much. I am sure all the moving around has left him confused and uncertain. It's times like this I really wish they could talk and tell their story. At least we know it has the best possible ending (or new beginning). I'm so happy he's back with you. Sending prayers as he gets his dental procedure done today. |
Also I don't know what he has been through but he paces a lot back and front. He also loves it outdoors. Always coming up to me and pawing at me to go out the front door. He doesn't wonder far and always makes sure someone is near by. He still knows his come, sit and stay command. He seems to have a problem with 1 of my brothers and that is why I thought maybe he was abused by a bigger set man. My brother was trying to call him to come and yoshi came sat next to me and started growling. So i told him it was ok and picked yoshi up and handed him to my brother after my brother let him smell his hand. and as my brother held him he was petting him. and yoshi just looked scared. last night when my brother came home and said something to me Yoshi started growling. But he doesn't do that to my other brother who is smaller than my other one. So Idk maybe I am reading into things. Well time to give 2 furbutts a bath so I can kill some time while Yoshi is getting his dental. |
Thanks for the update. I sure he's traumatized from his last 5 years missing. With time he will hopefully be back to your Yoshi. |
He probably just needs time, Mary. He has been through so much. Poor little guy...thank goodness he will be cared for properly now. Prayers for him as he has his dental today. Love your pictures. :) |
Praying for Yoshi's dental to go smoothly. Mary, it is wonderful to see you with Yoshi in your arms! I agree with the others, he is probably in shock with all that he has been through. My Teddy didn't recognize his favorite person in a stressful situation. I am very happy that you and your baby boy have been reunited! |
Thanks for the update....I will pray for Yoshi in his dental I am sorry things didn't go better with the reunion. I agree with others in that I think time will do a lot to heal. After all, he was only at your sisters a few days and was following her around. Odd question...but how much does your sister look like you?? Maybe Yoshi is having an identity crisis. My older dog does not like any strange people and for some reason, he went and plopped right down on my sisters lap when I wasn't in the room...and then as soon as I got back, he ran to me a bit confused. We are convinced that he must have mistaken her for me because he just doesn't do stuff like that. She has the same color hair, similar build and we probably smell a bit similar since we are sisters. Maybe Yoshi remembers you and has placed that memory on your sister if you guys happen to look similar. |
Obviously he has lived a stressful life for these past years. I'm sure you will take it slow with him, give him time to adjust. I hope he will learn to trust and relax again and take life easy. It sounds like he has had to be on guard for quite a while. Poor guy. It's time for healing the body and the soul. Maybe he will start to feel better as his mouth heals. |

Mary - he is SO beautiful! Love his pictures, my gosh, he's just a gorgeous little baby. Give him time, and he will keep healing. Remember, he lost his 'safe place' a long time ago...it will take him time to trust that, even though you smell like his good old 'safe place', his instincts probably tell him not to trust it / feel safe yet. He's been through so much. People are the same way who've been traumatized...very tough to feel safe/secure/trust again....takes time and tender loving care. Have faith, bc I know it will happen ! |
So happy to hear that you both are back safe and sound! Unfortunate that Yoshi is in his shell... at the moment. In time he will learn to trust you again and he'll be back to his real self.:) He certainly had been through a lot in the past 5 years and needs time to know he is in a safe place. Positive thoughts regarding Yoshi's dental work coming his way. Again, happy to hear you both are safe.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Omg I missed a lot!! I'm so glad Yoshi is finally home safe and sound! |
So glad he's home and getting the care he deserves. Hope his dental goes well. |
Miracle of miracles. I remember this thread and cannot believe it's been 5 years! I am so happy for you Mary and so happy for Yoshi. I hope you both regain your attachment to each other and have many many happy years together. |
It is wonderful to see pictures, and know that Yoshi is safely in a place where he will get the love and care he deserves. Five years is a long time to be apart, and it is understandable that he is cautious and trying to figure everything out. It is the same as any rescue pup being reoriented into a different home. I wish you all the best, and hope things go smoothly for all of you. |
Yoshi What a cute baby! As he has had so much time away and under what circumstances(?), he must feel very unsure of what is happening now. He will come around and trust you and be your old loving and precious baby again. I know it must be hard when you were so looking forward to seeing him again, and he seems distant. But dogs soon learn what and who is good for them! So sad that he had to have such a severe dental, he can't be very happy with such bad and hurting teeth. Thanks for the update and lovely pics. Prayers and good wishes for a speedy recovery from the dental and from being away from you for so long. Hugs. |
Oh my goodness!! I'll be praying for your little Yoshi! |
