I'm a newbie! Hi everyone.. I am new here and just wanted say HI! I am also a new Yorkie owner... first dog ever! Chuey is 4 months old and the best puppy ever!!! I got him as a gift for Christmas... great surprise, I've always wanted one because they are just so darn cute! I just found out that my little one has been infected with Giardia. :( He is currently on medication to get rid of this nasty parasite and also has to stay away from his "sisters", my 2 cats. Once this Giardia is gone, I plan on taking Chuey to PetSmart for puppy school. I've heard bad things about PetSmarts grooming, but I've heard good about their training classes. Feel free to give me your opinion. Also, he seems to get very nervous around other people.. he is good around other animals, but when around people he gets really scared and shakey. Is this normal for the breed, or is he just a "wussy"? :) |
Welcome to YT!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on your furbaby!! Mine are nervous around children. |
Welcome To YT.Congrats onyour new furbaby. |
Welcome to YT and Congratulations on your new baby! |
Welcome!!!!! :) |
Congrats and welcome to YT! :) |
no nerves here Mine aren't nervous around anything! They took to the bigger dogs right off and have never met a stranger. However, they don't enjoy being held by by 4 year old, but they tolerate it!:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Welcome!!! :welcome4: I haven't ever done PetSmart puppy classes. |
Hi and welcome to YT |
Hi & Welcome to YT!! I got KiKi a year ago for Valentine's Day and she is my first dog ever as well!! So you are in the same boat I was in 1 yr ago!! Congrats!! There is nothing better than Yorkie love!! KiKi does still get nervous occasionally..like when we visit Pet Smart and too many people get around her..but she just attracts crowds!! She did the Puppy class and we learned a lot!! Paid off...she is well behaved and listens very well...worth it IMOP!! Good luck! |
I was very impressed with the PetSmart class. I went with low expectations. I thought it would minimally be good for socialization. It was not only good for socialization, but I learned how to train a pup, & Gus learned too. |
Welcome to YT and congrats on Chuey! I have 2 yorkies, one is not afraid of anything--or maybe I should say she lets her curiosity get the best of her and then my little Mo tends to be a little more fearful of things but he is getting better I think. I got him when he was 3 yo and if you looked at him wrong he cowered and shook. |
Welcome and congrats on the new baby! They are really the best dogs . I have two again, and we can not get enough of them.. |
Yorkies are the BEST!!! I think puppy classes are more about training the trainer, than training the puppy!! You will take more away from the classes than just sit, stay and laydown. A must for every dog owner. My Bailey is not shy around anyone - she's just wired that way. Good luck and get well soon!!!! :) Welcome to YT. |
