Escape Artist Hi All, So, my Teddy is an escape artist. When I go to church or somewhere I can't take Teddy I put him in the kitchen with baby gates on each end. After the first time he escaped my hubby and I thought if we tilted the baby gates inward he wouldn't be able to climb them, so we tried that yesterday when we went out to dinner. Came back and he greeted us at the door! Escaped again! You guys have any ideas on how to keep him IN the kitchen when I have to leave him? Kathy |
I feel your pain. You will get all sorts of suggestions but I will have to sit this out and be a listener. My Shelby is driving me NUTS. She is the best dog when I am home, but when I leave....she just can't take it. She cries and she escapes. The ex pen no longer works...and if they climb, they can get over most gates. I may have to resort to a cage like crate. People? HELP!!!!!!!! |
Oh, that's a toughie. Have you tried a taller baby/pet gate? Be sure to take off any harness or collar when they are gated. Some folks use an x-pen with either cardboard/plywood on top or a sheet. Good luck! |
How about laying a piece of plywood or something of that nature across the door so there's nothing for him to grasp? |
All my yorkies scales babygates. It's a big joke in my house. http://www.geocities.com/tinybittosalt/MVC-004V.MPG My solution was to crate them. I bought the biggest wired cage available and put them in it. |
I've got two climbers. Mother and daughter, they oughta be doing agility. |

hahahahhaha sorry I know I'm not supposed to laugh but that was too cute! Ok Ok I'll stop! Simon has crawled across the gate once but it scared the beejeezus out of him and he stopped. I have read a lot about people getting covers for their x-pens. Or getting a large crate so they aren't so confined. Good Luck |
