Hi - I'm a empty-nester who last year... became a dog owner for the first time. I found a local breeder who I adore and bought a one-year old Yorkie. This came after talking to several breeders in my area who suggested that a year old Yorkie would be better for me. She is now 2 years old and the absolute love of my life. However, I'm told by friends and family that I've spoiled her. I play a lot of bridge and Lexi sits on my lap most of the time. She sleeps with me, and she still uses Pittle Pads, because I don't like to go outside when it is cold. She was potty-trained that way and it works well for me. I've just deleted about six lines about concerns I have, but I'll save them for another thread. I know I'll enjoy this site, because you have to love Yorkie lovers. By the way, she weighs 7 lbs when I got her and she was sold to me because she had a large rear. The breeder and family called her JLo, but I changed her name to Lexi. They had hoped to show her, but this feature made it impossible. "We all can't be show girls." is what I tell her. Some Yorkies are just for loving. Another Yorkie Lover:animal36 |

Welcome to YT! She sounds perfectly normal to me - not a bit spoiled! Really though, isn't that what they're for? They are so loveable that it's almost impossible NOT to spoil them. Please post some pictures when you can!:) |
Welcome. You will love it here. |
:welcome4: :yorkietal Welcome to you and Lexi :yorkietal :welcome4: It sounds like you have a happy contented Yorkie. What's the point of having them if you can't spoil them rotten???? Yorkies are just one of those breeds that "lend themselves" to be petted, pampered, and spoiled. AND so what? If you and Lexi are happy with your relationship, good for you!!! Please post pics, I'd love to see your little Lexi |
Hi there and Welcome to YT :) I can't wait to see pictures of Lexi ! |
You spoiled your yorkie! Welcome to the club!:D |
My two said they don't think she's spoiled! Welcome |
<----- still waiting for pictures of Lexi  |
From one empty nester to another - HELLO! "J Lo", "Junk in the Trunk", "We can't all be show girls" -I love this website and all who join in. Welcome to YT - glad to have ya!!! :) |
hohoho, welcome to YT! :yorkietal:yorkiesar you've find the right place, whose yorkie isn't spoiled:D |
Welcome to YT!!!! All yorkies are spoiled....How can you look at their little faces and get mad??? |
LOL I love your story. I am almost an empty nester. My children are grown, I live in California and my only grandchild lives in Kentucky. I don't work anymore, so whats the solution. Buy a yorkie and have company, and someone to spoil. I sew clothes for my little Mia. I love having company during the day. I think sometimes it upsets my kids I give the dog so much attention. Mind you the kids are not neglected or lacking for anything! Your friends, are they named Alicia Paul or KYle?? Are you friends with my kids? Just kidding. To have a yorkie, is to love a yorkie. To love a yorkie, is to spoil a yorkie! |
Hi there and Welcome to YT!!! I think that you will fit in here just perfectly!!!........ Pampering my Yorkies is one of my favorite hobbies!!!! (they ARE family after all!!!!!) Hope you can post some pics of Lexi.... we'd LOVE to see her!! :) |
Hiya and welcome to YT! Sounds like you and Lexi are gonna fit right in! I think so long as you spoiling her does'nt create any bad behaviour that effects you or others around then its not a problem or anyone elses business:p Yorkies are a "TOY" breed -their main purpose in life-the job they are bred for these days is to be LOVED and SPOILED by us:p They are mostly cuddle bugs although there are still some that hold tightly onto their terrier instincts and don't want to be pampered:rolleyes: So long as both you and Lexi are happy and healthy, then thats all that counts:D SPOIL AWAY I SAY!!!:D |
Hi and Welcome to YT! :welcome4: Sounds like your little Lexi has filled your empty nest quite nicely!! Enjoy her and love her....isn't that what they are for!?:D |
