Taping ears? Hi, My four month old puppy's ears just stood up! It was very random (they had always been droopy before), but I was thrilled because I thought this meant that I wouldn't have to tape them, which I wasn't looking forward to. Her ears stayed up for about a week, and then she got her last distemper vaccine and they drooped down again! They stayed that way for two days, and now they're sort of up again, but one is kind of droopy. Whether or not her ears stay up seems to be connected with how she feels. If she's tired/sick, they droop. If she's playful and excited and energetic, they're usually up. This is frustrating - do you think I should go ahead and tape her ears to encourage them to stay standing? Are her ears standing up something she consciously controls? Has anyone else's pup had their ears stand all the way up out of the blue? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks! |
Both of mines went up on their own at about 3 mos. Jewels would also fall down after she got a shot but they would end up going back up |
Yogi's went up and down a lot too. I just kept the tips trimmed close and by 6 months of age they stayed up all the time. |
Taping ears Hello, I have two puppies 10 weeks old. I taped mine with masking tape. One of each fell so I retaped. You have to shave the hair off their ears inside and out and I put the tape on the ear. They do whine when you take the tape off, but it has worked and they look adorable. It isn't like I had them docked or surgery. Just shaving and taping. It's worth it and they still lick all over me. Try taping only the one ear that is drooping. You have to cover the entire ear because the part that isn't taped will droop. I put alcohol in their ears before taping. They are precious. Janet |
