Unloved Mom First I want to say I love my little Gumdrop. She is the love of my life. My friend had a Yorkie and my Mom fell in love with it so I am now a proud owner....but...I hope that she will grow out of the touch me not stage. She loves to run and jump and jump some more and has the energy of a Great Dane. Will wiggle out of a hug to run and run..get the picture? I have trained her to sit on command but seems too unfouced to do anything else. Now I know she is a puppy and I can not expect much at this time but between biting and refusing to sit on my lap that takes up most of her day. I am told she will grow out of this but I get doubtful days. She is close to three months now. I take her out to see other people and dogs so she is socilized and I have read every Yorkie book there is...how can I turn my little runner into a lover?:animal36 |
Our little madison is 8 mos old and she is just starting to have 'cuddle moments'. be patient. your furbaby will come around. Let her do it at her pace.:D |
I went through this too. My sophie loves to play, but isn't much of a cuddlebug. I think being puppies, they just have too much energy. She will now sit on my lab, though sometimes it's kind of forced. She has recently in the past week or two wanted to be in the bed while I am on the computer. I think it does take time, but I found they show you in other ways. If anyone else is holding Sophie, her eyes are on me and where I am. Your puppy is young and will have plenty of time to bond with you and be more affectionate. |
My Josie wasn't very snuggly as a puppy, but now that she is 1 1/2, she is a real lover! She still loves to run and play, but she now can settle down and sit on my lap. She even begs for me to pick her up! I never thought that would happen!! lol |
Let it be said, patience is a virtue! I have 2 babies (4 & 6 yrs) the were the farthest thing from cuddle bugs when I got them. Now . . . I can hardly get them off my lap if they feel it is 'nap time'! Your baby will come around, have no fear. Befor you know it, she will love to cuddle more than play some days! |
Just like everyone's said, be patient. My Annie B was such a cuddler and after we lost her we were blessed quickly with Gracie Ruth. She was 3 months old when she joined our family and not into the whole cuddling thing either, which broke my heart. But I realized I needed to meet up with Gracie on her terms. What I would do is sit or lay on the floor to play with her. She loved to play with toys. So I'd be on the floor and she'd often bring me a toy and jump in my lap or climb on my back with it. I never tried to "hold" her during this time, just let her come and go, touch and leave at her choice. It think it helped to let her see that she could come to/around me and wouldn't be "captured". She has outgrown this, yea!, and loves to cuddle and be held now. She turned 1 last month. |
