Pimping Mommy for treats Seriously...we have done the treat training thing...a treat for the potty....now these two I swear are asking to go out just to get the treat, But because I can't be sure everytime, and there are two of them someone may be for real. Yes I watch them, and one may go and the other not. I think they are tag teaming too....you ask to go out this time and I'll ask to go out next.... So here are my issues...they will have me in the treat poor house soon if this keeps up and I don't think all of that is good for them So some of the times they go out, I try praise only, and they look at me like.....HAVE YOU LOST YOUR EVER LOVIN MIND...then I go sit down and they stay at the treat counter starring at it as if they expect the counter to drop one for them (hilarious) Ok so what about this issue....weigh in. |
Zoeybear used to go over to her pee pad and squeeze out a dime sized pee and then wait for her treat. I use tiny treats just a taste. They are called yorkie yummies. |
Very smart Yorkies AND Yorkie Mom! Let the Games Continue..... Quote:
I think your assessment of the situation is accurate. AND I think that your Yorkies should get an Excellence in Human Trianing. Try a little twist, when you KNOW that they haven't pottied when they go outside, then give a piece of their regular kibble as a treat. Two can play that game. Believe me, it won't take them long to figure out the new twist on the treat game. Hummmmm, maybe you could invent a counter that WOULD drop treats -- yorkies the world over would covet one. |

When Ellie is cheating to get a treat she does a little bob with her but.:rolleyes:Cute really, she also does this when she doesn't want to pee and we give her our command which is hurry up.I always know whether she has done anything, when she pee's for real she lifts her back leg slightly.;) |

Oh, we caught on to Bailey a long, long time ago. We were certain that she was dry squatting - just for the treats!! So, we started the kleenex test. The kleenex never lies - but Bailey sure does!!! LOL And this is probably an inappropriate comment - but since you used "pimping" in your header - I have to tell you that hubby sometimes calls Bailey the "Treat Ho" - doing tricks for treats. Its not a nick name that I'm fond of - but it does make me laugh. :) |
"the treat ho " LOL , Too funny :D |

I don't really know a perfect solution to tell you about them asking to go out all the time... we have that problem with Nikko sometimes. Basically if he's bored or has too much energy, he'll drive us nuts going over to the door to be let out. The only thing we've been able to do to help this is to take him for long walks early in the day, so that the rest of the day he's more relaxed (a little anyways). He's also a faker when we do take him out... though since we've started watching closer, he's started faking less. We always take him out on a short leash for potty trips, so we can watch him like a hawk. When he pees for real, he squats first, and then *his tail lifts up as the pee begins.* That's the real teller, the tail. No tail lift, no puddle, he gets NO treat. Now when he fakes, he looks at us just for a second like, "did I fool you this time?" and when we shake our heads and tell him to quit faking and go potty, he turns around and goes back to sniffing, like he's thinking, "Oh darn. Well, I tried." Lauren & Nikko PS: We use tiny little peanut butter baking chips as potty treats, split into thirds. Each treat really is just a teeny taste... he definitely does ask to go out more often than he needs to, and it's really annoying sometimes. Nevertheless, I am happy our indoor accidents are diminishing! |
