Im a Newby, and I have a question... Hello! Im just buying a new baby! Im so excited! I dont get to pick her up until next month, but I go visit her often! :) I was visitng today, and I just found out she has a cowlick on the back of her neck. Is this normal? IS she worth as much with a cowlick? She is my first Yorkie. I have always had Minature schnauzers, so this is all new to me! Please Help! I have been wanting a Yorkie for a few Years now, and I have been just waiting to find the look I wanted. Both of her Parents are darling! Thanks! =D |
Lucy had a cowlick, too - but it disappeared completely by the time she was about 15 weeks old, as her hair grew. |
Yay! That gives me hope! Thanks! I have done a lot of reading and such, but I have never come across aything about a Cowlick! One more question....Doyou have anyopinion on CKC vs AKC? I have only delt with AKC, and this baby is CKC. Should AKC pups be worth more, or does it not matter? IM so glad i found this web site! Thanks! ;) |

uh oh Its the Continental Kennel Club? I think thats it. I dont have her papers yet, I havent got to bring her home yet. I have paid my deposit and she is reserved for me. I was worried about her papers, but I would buy her anyway! She is darling! Both of her parents are beautiful, and I cant imagine her being anything but gorgeous. I have been doing a lot of searching for Pups before I found mine, and there are a lot of breeders registered with this same CKC. The dad to my little girl is registered with CKC, and AKC and the mom is just CKC. I know the Breeder Im purchasing my baby from said she is trying to register the mom with AKC also? I was hoping someone had some knowledge of CKC or had any opinions they would like to share wth me? Thanks |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk!!! The AKC registration, is available only to purebreds, who are recognized by the AKC. This registration is good for breeding, showing and participating in AKC events like obedience and agility. The AKC is more strict in the standards and breeder must have proof of pedigree before they can get the registration. The CKC (Continental Kennel Club) is less as strict, and some what cheaper to get puppies registered. The CKC is based on honesty and integrity by the owner or breeder, that their line is pure. CKC accepts newer, or speciality breeds that the AKC will not register, like rat terriers, etc. Mixes have been registered with the CKC due to dishonest breeders, but doesnt mean that you will not get a purebred if the puppy is reg. CKC. It is my "personal" opinion, AKC is best when paying big bucks on the puppy you want. If you are only getting limited registration you will not be able to breed or show your pet. If you want to be able to do any of these you must find a breeder who will give you full registration. |
