The are adorable, how much are they going for, I been looking for another one. |
They are beautiful....and yes I would guess the economy has a lot to do with it.....blm |
They are very cute. Wish I lived near you.... |
I think they are adorable too. I know it's hard, and like you said you don't want to give them away. When I use to breed pits all of a sudden the market was flooded with them, and I couldn't make any money at all. I loved my pups, and bred them according to the standard, but there were so many puppy mills selling them that I didn't stand a chance. When I first started I was getting 850 and up. When I quit I was getting 250. It just didn't make any sense to me to work that hard to get such a perfect dog, and then have to give them away to any old body. |
Ok glad you all think they're cute. This is my first litter and I have been franctic on this site ever since my girl was pregnant. I am not an "experienced" breeder and other than a few little things like the ears I missed, I think I have done pretty well. You have to start somewhere.. ;) So now that i've got advice about the ears I guess I will go ahead and shave them. I was just afraid that no one would want a pup with shaved ears..lol.. but it took the others no time and they were right up. I will post a picture of my tiny baby Pottsy. His ears are up and he is cute as can be.. ears ears ears.. I've been talking about these ears for 2 days now.. lol. bare with me. |
How much are you asking for them? Could be the economy or could be the price or could be both. I noticed the price of Yorkies dropping around here due to the economy. You can get one here for about 700 last time I checked. They were running about 1200 before.:aimeeyork |
Hi...............your babies are adorable! Nothing wrong with them at all. I do agree with Sugars Mom about shaving the top 2/3 of their ears. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pics knowing you were concerned that they were not standing yet. Also wanted to say welcome and it's good to see another fellow Nebraskan here on YT. :D |
Well, I shaved them and I taped them. Hopefully they're not too old to stand. Anyway, I started off asking $600 for them but have lowered the price twice.. But someone said before that I shouldn't lower it too much.. So I guess this site just confuses me..lol.. Some people told me to keep them til they were 12 wks, some ppl say I should have sold them at nine.. I guess everyone just has different opinions. |

there is nothing wrong with them...it could be the economy or possibly most people looking for a yorkie like myself care about them being to standard with their ears up...if they are not up when i get them i would shave the hair off the ears and see if that helps...if not then i would tape them... |

I just did shave and tape them but I noticed one of them has the tape off already.. This should be fun! It's taking forever for my little ones' hair to grow back.. He looks like a little gizmo.. but I did notice that the boy whos tape is off, ears are already standing up more since an hour ago.. yay |
yes shaving does help...hehe...usually the hair is too heavy for them to hold up....so i usually shave them and see how that goes...then if that doesn't work then i would tape them...then again you can have some with big heavy leather ears that is to heavy to stand no matter how much you try. |
I have not read the other posts, but your babies are beautiful. I think they are soo cute with the ears down. If I did not have 5 already, I would try to snatch one up. |
The Economy Your Puppies are Adorable it's the Economy and the Location. I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and I constantly check the Local prices w/c used to be between $1,000.00-$1,200.00 but now they are down to $500.00-$750.00 and are switching from the AKC. to the CKC. b/c the Breeder's are complaining about the higher fees w/the AKC. (for Registrations) Timing is everything, I was Breeding just 2 yrs. ago and I was selling my males for $1,800.00 and the females for $2,000.00. They had 14 Champions in their past 3 generations of their Pedigree and they were Standard sized @ 5 lbs. (full grown). Try feeding them some "Cottage Cheese" the extra "Calcium" in their Diet w/help the soft Cartilidge in their Ears get hard that's what makes them stand-erect, besides the shaving and taping! Most Breeders do shave their Ears at an early age so they are accustomed to getting Groomed. I kept my Puppies until they were between 15-20 weeks old, they were potty Trained, Crate Trained and Leash Trained and knew basic commands. Most Breeders don't keep them that long b/c they don't want to pay for all the Medical/Vet. costs during that time of the first year. Plus some people are under the impression that it's better to let them go so early so they will bond better w/their New Family? IMO by keeping them longer only makes them a more stable/balanced Dog, the early Training makes them easier to Train for their New Owner it sets them up for good behaviour. Sorry this post is so long, I hope it helps? |
