When your furbabie [s], wakes you up:
 

I sure that everyone of us has been through this when our adorable furbabie's wakes us up in the "wee",hours of the morning to go potty, then they don't go potty at all!!!!!!! :rolleyes: So what do you do, what kind{s}, of method's do you use to get your adorable to go potty so you can go back to your cozy, warm, fluffy bed's? When CoCoa B, wake's me up all time's of the morning's, to go and he doesn't, he just sat there starring at me, like mommie why are we up?:rolleyes: This is what I have start doing with him, I play toss-up with him, I do it 3 time's, then I put him down, and CoCoa B., goes running too go potty.{Toss-Up}, means playfully toss him up in the air,but be careful not to drop the furbabies's,he likes that, and what you know, he goes potty for his mommie, and back to bed we go for another 2-3 hour's, and we back at it again.:aimeeyork

When I was training Sydney I would take her out ( I wouldn't say anything to her except go potty ) the I let her take about five minutes or so and if she didn't go I would start slowly walking her in a small figure 8 ( by just moving her leash in a figure 8 while I stood still). Before long she would start sniffing and go. To this day , if she is not going I will do it and she will go :)

The first few weeks I brough My Lestat home he seemed to sleep throught the night in his crate then for about 2 nights he kept waking me up every hour on the hour to go outside, i quickly got tired of this so i tried covering his create with a thick blanket at night and that seemed to do the trick, he falls right asleep and he does not wake up until my alarm goes off in the morning and its extremely rare for him to go in his crate at night i usually take his fiid and water away a few hours before bedtime so he has no need to go at night.

Well when I trained pnizzle I had him in his crate at night. I would also take up his water at like 8pm and then make him go potty before bed, then snuggle him in his crate and he would sleep the whole night if not he would wake up once, then when he was about 6...7 months he slept in the bed with us and when he had to go pee he would get up and bark and then I would usually poke my hubby and he would take pnut to the pad, but now he is 2 and he just jumps off the bed and goes pee and then barks when he wants back up :)

I guess that I'm lucky because Missy doesn't wake me up! She's a total sleepyhead. I have to wake HER up every morning.:)

Mine go outside, so if they wake me up they go out and they KNOW they don't get back in til they go. They start to try to get me to feed them at like 5:30 but they know I won't feed them til at least 7, so we usually go out to potty around 5:30 and then we all go back to bed til 7 and I wake up to them sitting on me or staring at me. They wag their tails when I open my eyes and start running in circles when I put on my robe :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Our instigator is definitely Sammy. Loki waits for me to get up as long as it's before like 8:30. Sammy is up once the sun comes up. I NEED to get her on a different schedule, but with the weather so crappy I can't wear her out and she's just not tired. Once it's nice out she will be so tired she will sleep :) I have to let her out when she wakes up though or she poops on the floor :(

It's ALL about the routine though. Mine know that we go out, potty, go back to bed, then we get up LATER, potty, and eat. They have no problem settling back into bed, in fact they race upstairs to get the best spot. They weren't always like that, I just didn't give them a choice and now it's all they know.

I would definitely take playing out of the equation. Are you sure he's not getting up to play? Lola is a sleepy head also. She never wakes me up anymore. I never mixed going potty with anything else. Said just two words "go potty" and walked her a bit until she did. Then straight to bed. She loves my bed though. All I have to say ANY TIME OF DAY is "ready to go to bed?" and she's off like a bullet LOL

I've been lucky with Canyon, from night one he's slept through the night, even at 13 weeks of age. On the rare occassions that he does wake me up in the middle of the night, I take him to potty, no talking, no playing and as soon as he's done, back on the bed to sleep.

We started out with the idea that Nikko would never be allowed on our bed, he would always sleep in his crate. But that NEVER worked - he always wanted to wake up to pee, or to play, or just to get attention. Uggh!

Finally one night after about a month and a half, I was so exhausted that instead of taking him outside to pee when he woke up, I just tried putting him into bed next to me. Like magic, he fell immediately back asleep and slept clear through to the morning.

So now, Nikko goes to bed in his crate, and my rule is that he has to stay in there sleeping for at least four hours (which he doesn't have any trouble with). And then if he wakes up after that, he gets to sleep with us for the remainder of the morning. I'm actually pretty happy with this solution so far... we get plenty of sleep, Nikko is happy, and it's nice to have a happy puppy gently waking us up in the morning, after we've had a full night of sleep.

I know this doesn't really help the OP, since it sounds like your baby sleeps with you for the whole night, but I just thought I'd share the way we do it. At the very least though, we NEVER play with him in the middle of the night - that's sleep time. Outside to pee or sleep are the only two options. It took a long time, but we finally figured each other out, and now Nikko can sleep for 8 hours... or if we take him out for a pee/poo sometime in the middle of the night, he can sleep up to 12 hours total!

Our little Mia is about a year old. For so long I would take her outside if she woke during the night, thinking she had to pee. I spent many cold evenings outside with nothing happening. Finally, this is funny, I put a golf club next to my bed. So if she woke during the night I would rap on her crate with the club. I would say quiet, go to sleep. She would go back to sleep. I think she woke up and was lonely or bored, and wanted to be entertained. She now sleeps thru the night without waking, if she wakes early I will take her outside to pee. I do not speak to her until I AM READY TO GET UP. She has learned to play quietly until I am up and ready to care for her. It seriously amazes me how teachable and willing to please these little yorkies are. She is a dream girl. If I am sick and unable to get out of bed, I give her a few toys and she will play by herself, and wait for me to be able to move. It is awesome.
