nightmares When Ramsey sleeps he tosses and turns all over the bed.. It is to the point where I sleep on the very edge and he has the rest to himslef. And he growls and barks in his sleep. I'm wondering do dogs have nightmares like we do?? |

I also believe they dream. Just this morning I was watching Mac lying in his bed. He was on his back sprawled out. His little eye lids were twitching and he kept swatting his front paw at something. I was wondering what he was dreaming about. He actually looked like he had a smile on his face. |
I believe they dream also. My pups are always twitching and making sounds and acting like their running when they are asleep. |
You know Yorkies are intelligent. I believe they dream and I have also seen them wake up terrified by whatever they were dreaming about. They are such big dogs in small packages that I don't know what would scare them like that but I guess if we can have nightmares so can they. |
Absolutely, my Nico also cries and moves his paws like he's running away from something. Happens quite often. It's very common thing for yorkies that's what I've heard. Take care guys! |
Yes I also believe they have bad dreams. Zach cries and moves all over the bed at night. Sometimes he shakes so hard I have to wake him up. I wonder what a dog would dream about |
If they don't dream, I always wondered why they bark and try to run and whine in their sleep? Got to be dreaming and not all situations the brain brings into dreams are pleasant. |
Mine bark and run in their sleep all the time. However, I have never assumed that they were running away from something. I'm certain that they are chasing something instead, and that it's a great dream because they are never upset when they wake up! |
I hope Tibbe's dreams are all pleasant and he's chasing or playing but realize he might occasionally have a bad one, too. Does make you wonder if dog's are somehow protected from bad dreams. But since dogs, besides just being happy and full of gusto all the time, get sad, depressed, can grieve and sense pain/illness in others, seeming to express such a wide range of feelings, I assume their dreams kind of reflect their reality, as ours do. I usually - not always - but usually dream about things that are familiar to me and routine to daily living. I always thought probably dogs' dreams do too - the good and occasionally the bad. |

They have to dream. Bailey will be asleep in my lap and all of a sudden he's howling. When I pet him, he jumps up like he's been on an adventure. I'm sure most of you have seen the youtube video of the dog sleep running. This is the same dog, different video. He is for sure dreaming! |
Our boxer Coco and Georgie both dreamed sometimes the bed will be shaking from Coco dreaming and Georgie growls in his sleep. We have to wake them both up on occasion. |
I have seen my girls move their legs in their sleep, but Nikki who was a rescue found on the streets of Chicago in bad shape cries in his sleep. He cried more when I first got him but still does once in awhile. I always wake him up and he is pretty out of it. I feel so bad when he cries I always wonder if he is remembering bad times. |
Yorkie Dreams ummmm ahhhhhh such happy little sounds, tail thumping, little feet air walking, assures me that dogs do dream. I am sure some doggy scientist some where, has wired a a doggy head with sticky clips, to record brain waves and RAM sleep. True, I didn't do my observation in a professional way, by doing experiments and collecting data on long charts. I have shared my bed with enough Yorkies to know they dream good and bad just like we do. |
