We have only had a him a couple of weeks and he is settling in lovely but i am concerned about a few things and hope to get some good advice! Ziggy has been itching on his back but he hasnt got fleas but has a flaky skin i have read it could be related to a poor diet! As my previous owner said she just feed him dry food but to me ziggy isnt that fond of it!! Could someone please tell me what yorkshire terriers need and like as i want to give him all the goodness he needs. Looking forward to meeting new friends and good advice, kind regards Marie & Ziggy :) |
Hi and welcome to both you and Ziggy. |
Hi and welcome to YT!!!!!!!!!!:wavey: You may want to post in the yorkie health and diet section. They give some really good advice about food. :):):) |
Hello, Welcome to you and Ziggy! There is always a big debate on what the best food is for your little one. Sometimes you can go through several different brands before you find something that he really likes. You will find it eventually! |
Hi! :wavey: :welcome4: :yorkiesar It took us nearly 2 years to find something that was good & that Boo would eat. silly boy. Fortunately it is the food that Gracie Ruth & Yogi were on, so no having to buy different foods for each dog. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk., I feed my babies chicken soup for the pet lovers soul. here is the web site my babies love this food. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul : Home |
Welcome to YT. I just tried Taste of the Wild, and my Piper won't even lick it. I'm going to try Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul, cause Piper needs to eat something, and I've heard a lot of people talk highly about it. A really nice member is sending me a package of Nature's Abudance to see if he'll eat that. I'll let you know how it goes. He has flaky dry skin too. |
Thankyou everyone for taking the time to reply very much appriected, will try some of your ideas, kind regards Marie & ziggy x |
Welcome and congrats on your new baby. There are several really good foods. A few I can think of are Wellness, Canidae, Innova, Solid Gold |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
Hello and welcome!! :welcome4: |
Hello Maria and Ziggy and Welcome to Yorkie Talk. My Papillion had really bad flaky and itcky skin for 6 years. We were always @ the Vets!! I got my 14 month old Yorkie Baron 8 months ago. He was on Purina Puppy and had terrible gas from it. I got Royal Canin on my cousins insistance. Adult # 27 for the boys...Her last 4 Yorkies all lived to be 14 and over!! Wuthin 6 weeks we had no more skin/or upset stomachs. They love the food and I could'nt be happier!! I Highly Recommend this food for your dog. You may have to try different kinds to see what best suits your dogs needs. Royal Canin has a Yorkie formula that might fit your dogs nutritional needs!! I have a Yorkie and a Papillion that's why a chose a small dog formula for 11 months and older!! Good-Luck... |
Welcome to YT!! :wavey: Glad to have you both here. My 2 are also 7 - I adopted them when they were 2 yrs old. I'm not sure which of the foods we have in the states that you would also have in England. We have a number of UK residents here on YT - hopefully they can point you in the right direction. I do believe feeding a high-grade food is important - such as Innova, Merrick's, Wellness -- there is a lot of info in the Health & Diet forum Also, you may want to find a good oatmeal based shampoo & conditioning rinse to help ease the itchiness -- always remember rinsing the shampoo out really well is one of the most important steps of the bath. If you use a rinse out conditioner - then rinse well, as any residue on their hair and skin can cause more problems |
