My Yorkie's ears Ok, I shaved the hair on her ears and I've been massaging them, what's next? I really don't want to have to tape them or use the sticks. Is there anything else I can do naturally? |
My little girls just eventually stood up on there own. When we bought her, the lady asked us if we wanted her ears to stand up, so she shaved them for us and within about a month they were standing up, with no floppines to them.. I would just give it time and see, thats just my opinion...:D |

2 Attachment(s) Yogi has sooo much hair that it took several days after they were trimmed to start to creep up. Then he started teething and down they went. :p More trimming, more time and finally they went up and stayed. I don't know who was happier, him to have his momma finally stop "pulling" on his ears , or me to finally have them standing up. Although I must say, I would have been ok if they stayed down, he was so cute with his floppy little ears. However, I think we should have named him Cousin It...he's got so much hair!!:D |

ears Jencar I know the taping of the boxers ears was horrifying, but you're right it's not like any cutting would be done to my baby..I'll keep the massaging, PS wish she could do the same for me LOL |
I'm sorry if I missed this along the way....but how old is your Yorkie? You did the right thing by shaving them. They will typically stand on their own, some not until 6 months of age or so. Good luck! |
ears Meic She's 4 months old. I just gave her a bath and it was so much fun to blow dry her. She loved it thank god. I love that there are so many people on here to help me. I'm so new at yorkies... |
I know a lot of people tape ears but I still think its cruel. If their ears are going to stand they will do it as long as the hair is kept off them and massaging does also help increase blood flow. I've never had one whoses ears didn't stand on their own but I know some never do. |
i don't see anything wrong with taping their ears...it doesn't hurt them...so if you want your yorkie ears to stand you should tape them...if not then be happy with floppy ears...hehe |
ears :animal-paDo you know of a site that can show me how to tape the ears?:animal-pa |
It sounds like alot of people have success with only taping their Yorkies ears for 24hrs. I think it's worth a try. |
Jon-An's Yorkshire Terriers (How to train Yorkies ears to stand) Top Taping Yorkie Ears Taping Yorkshire Terrier Ears Stand Erect Yorkie Ears Yorkshire Terrier Care i regret not taping Kioko's ears so now he has floppy ears...where as i had tape my Tootsie ears and they stand straight up....i prefer the ears standing since the standards call for it...and it really doesn't hurt them |
I went through the same worry with my Little Sophie. At 4 months 1 ear popped up. a week later, the second one did. It stayed up for three days, and then went back down. For another week, only one ear was up. I took her to the groomer and got the tips shaved. 3 days later, the second ear popped up and it's stayed up now for almost 2 weeks. She turns 5 months on Sunday, Feb. 8th. So be patient. They do eventually pop up.....or so I was told. |
I hope no one is saying they don't like floppy ears?...Fiona's are and I LOVE THEM! |
