Tips to help my puppy to not bite my hands Hello all. I just wanted to ask if you have any suggestions for helping my pup to stop biting my hands when we play with toys. I know all puppies go through this phase, I just don't want it to become a habit when she is older. My pup is 10 weeks old and when my husband and I play with her with toys, she goes for our hands instead of the toys. Any tips? I appreciate it! |
Bella is 13 weeks old and she still bites my hands, I think your hand is far more interactive than the toy, thats why they do it. She also attacks my slippers and then I have to walk with her on them. Not much of a help sorry :rolleyes: |

As was already mentioned the yelp and the ignore tactic worked well for me. What I would do is yelp like they really hurt me, this gets them to stop and they start licking my hand as if to say, "Sorry Momma, we forgot we weren't playing with Daddy." :D Daddy is their favorite chew toy. :p The other thing that works well is I'll say Quit! drop the toy, stop playing with them, turn away and ignore them for a moment. They can't stand this and will bring the toy around to me. I'll play with them again, until they bite me again and then do it all over. It didn't take them but a time or two to figure out just what was good behavior and what was bad. Just be consistent, every time their teeth touch you, you must stop the play. Good luck! |
