Newbie encourages caution and research Hi to all the members on YT!!! I am a newbie!!! I have had various dogs!!! I breed Poms and Scotties, but I was desperate to have a yorkie. It's been my dream since I was a little girl. I am a responsible breeder. I let the girls have a litter every 2yrs. I'm not in it for the money...I do home checks before I let them go. I love my little dogs!!! They are part of the family. :). My kids are growing up and moving away. So I have empty nest syndrome bad!!! I live in a small town in the Mountains of Arizona. We were in Phoenix (shopping) and I called a breeder who stated in his ad that he had 27yrs experience. I went the next day and fell in love!!! I was blinded by my new baby's face and affection. I signed a contract, paid $1300 for my baby girl and made my husband drive so I could oooh and ahhh over my new daughter:aimeeyork. My Yorkie, Chloe, now owns me and has from the minute I took her in my arms. I am her human. She is 18wks old. She weighs 1lb 6oz. She rules the roost!!! My 1yr old, 4lb pommie, Jordan is her playmate. They are so cute together!!! My other pommie, Pepper and my Scotties, Bentley and Emma are afraid of her and run like crazy when she comes around. I wish I would have done my research first then I would have known better. The breeder listed her as registered with papers. She is not AKC, but CKC. It stated that in the contract I signed....as I said I was blinded!! Her papers don't really mean much to me, but my groomer really wanted to show her for me. When I got her papers I was heart broken. She really is a picture perfect baby! My hubby wants me to go after the breeder, but I just can't get myself to do that!! I did sign that contract (and then handed it to him to review as well). I never heard of CKC. Fact is, I love Chloe...She's the sweetest dog with attitude I have ever had! I could never give her up!!! I just suggest that everyone put the puppy down and ask questions!!! I as a breeder am so upfront about everything when I sell my pups, I never expected to be taken by another breeder. He was so smooth...He had a beautiful house, the parents were gorgeous! He had me out the door with my baby girl, contract signed and thinking she was registered AKC. Be careful!!!! Do your research!!!! |
Welcome to YT :D:D:D We love to see some photos!!! |
What's even more confusing is that there is the legitimate Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), which is the equivalent of the AKC. The American company, Continental Kennel Club (CKC), I believe, took the same name to mislead buyers, and as far as I'm concerned the AKC is the only registry in America that is legitimate. One Canadian breeder bought a dog that was registered with the CKC and of course she thought it was the prestigious Canadian club; she wanted to add the dog to her breeding stock and paid a handsome price for it. She was trying to return the dog, but I don't think there is much you can do. Here's a link that explains the differences in registries. Registries |

That is a informative site!!! Thanks! |
Yes, you certainly paid a large price for a puppy that wasn't AKC reg but just enjoy her. Have her spayed and love her as a pet. I really don't think you have any grounds to go after the breeder if he didn't lie to you and say she was AKC |
welcome to YT! So happy you have a precious sweet yorkie to own. I am so sorry you were mislead -- and you are right research, research, research is so important. Can't wait to see pictures of all your furbabies! |
Welcome to YT!!! :yorkiesar:happyboun:dogwalk: |
Welcome to YT. Please post some pictures of your little one. :) |
Welcome to YT. I'm sorry you got taken. I always state when someone is getting a dog that is suppose to be AKC to make sure you get those papers before you sign any papers. There are so many crocked people out there that they make me sick. |
