Help me...! Sorry to bother you guys with this, but I need to make a decision... I have wanted to get another yorkie for two years now (since I got Cash:rolleyes:), but for some reason it hasn't worked out that way. So, I need help... Here is my pros and cons list and then you can help me with your ideas and comments: Pros for getting a puppy: Cash would have a friend, Cash would be less lonely, Cash would be happier, Two pups are about the same as one I feel ready for another one, I would feel less guilty when I have to leave Cash at home, I don't have to take her to training classes as I now know how to train, I would love to get another one coz they are soooo cute!!:D Cons: Financial costs of a puppy, Raising another puppy as a student, Trouble when maybe moving to France in 2010, My dad would freak out again (even though they haven't had to pay for anything for Cash), Potty training again... If anyone can add to the list or maybe help me, let me know... |
I think you have alot of good pro's and I can't really think of any more to add. But I can say that if you are planning to make such a big move you REALLY need to consider if it is the right time. What I am getting is that you will have to give the dogs up? That wouldn't be really fair to add another one in the mix just to give up, KWIM? Also students are busy, if you find you are having trouble giving one dog the time he may need, adding another is a nice idea for the dog to have company but not very fair if you know in your heart you may not have the time to give. These are HUGE cuddle bugs and yes you can be gone and own more then 1 but I know when I was in school and working and had family I couldn't even handle one dog at home that had major potty training issues. So REALLY think about it!! |
why not get a 2 year old rescue yorkie..that would maybe get rid of the potty training problem ;) |
you seem to have a lot more pros than cons, but you really have to think if they outweigh each other. i know its rough, but only you know the best. i'm thinking about your situation, and relocating another puppy would be rough, but it might be good for Cash to another pup there with him in a new environment. also, with you being new to a place, would you have enough time to give one, not to mention two pups the attention and everything they need? i'd say with your moving situation, think first about what will be best for Cash and your potential new puppy, come to a conclusion, then think about what you really want and what's best for you, and make your decision from those two together. good luck to you and Cash! (and rescuing a yorkie is always a good idea! you might miss out on the puppy stage, but they have a ton of love to give!) |
