Ears up or down? Being as we were new to the world of Yorkies, we didn't know that their ears are supposed to stand. I didn't find this out until she was 6 months old (we got her at 5 months), and from what I read, if they don't stand by this time they probably never will. ?? Anyway, we weren't concerned because we love her floppy little ears; she gives such expression with them. But after seeing so many Yorkies here, I wonder what Penny would look like with her ears up. Does anyone else have a Yorkie with "floppy" ears? |
I have one of each ..one up one down.. We've been taping her ears since she was 3 months and and finally when she turned 8 months her one ear is finally standing. So, I guess thats it.. either the other one will stand on its own or stay floppy. She looks cute to me either way. |

Gucci's ears being up since I got her. I like the ears up or down; either way. You can try trimming the hair of the ear, sometimes the weigh makes them floppy. Your little one is adorable. |
Sophie has foppy ears. They are so big I am glad they didn't stand up. |

Gracie's ears at first were undecided on whether they wanted to be up or down...but whenever we trimmed her ears they stood right up and stayed that way....she is 7 mos old and I thought they were down for good...but i was wrong....I like ears up or down...I prefer Gracie's up tho |

BIG girl, big ears Chelsea (goat) here...BIG girl-14 lbs, 12 in high, BIG ears...down, down! Loved very much, even with her big ears down, good thing, because in our climate we have alot of wind, so we could have had the DUMBO effect, with big ears! floppy ears 1 Attachment(s) I hear you!! My rocky has floppy ears and he is 3 and a half months old... One was up then the other now they are both down. Iam going to trim the ears to see if they will stand but he is cute either way. |
I think they are cute either way even though the show standard says they are supposed to be erect. P'sha!! I like the floppy ears....adorable in my book! |
Still Down Lucy is 16 weeks old and her ears are still down. I wish they would stand. I've had the hair trimmed off them but nothing yet. Maybe we didn't get enough trimmed off. The breeder suggest that I tape them, but I also have a 8 month old Shih Tzu and there's no way she would leave the tape alone. She'd have to pull it off just to get Lucy back for pulling out all of her bows. |

My breeder tape the ears of her puppies and place a little bitter apple on the tape , It prevent the other pups from playing with the ears . |
tucker's ears are floppy. they are so HUGE we like them better floppy. and its also really cute becasue when we talk to him, he puts them like half way up, or they go all the way back when he's running. so adorable!! |
My Tucker's ears ar floppy too - they stood up for a while, but then they started to droop and they've been completely down for about 3 months now - I love it!!! |

I knew that they their ears were supposed to stand, but I never did anything about Deegan's. I could tell from the time that I got him that they weren't going to stand up. They were so big, that if they did stand up, he would look like dumbo. So I let them flop, and never trimmed his ears so that they wouldn't even try. We love his ears floppy. I had a guy in petsmart interogate me last week as to why I never taped them to stand. It's none of his business. He's adorable with them like that, and I don't care what others say. |
Duncan has one ear up and the other down. It has been that way for about 2 weeks now. He is teething so maybe that has something to do with it. |

Charlies are floppy. When he was really little, his ears stood up for about a week. I dont trim the hair on his ears because i like them down. His ears are actually rather large, i dont think they would stand up even if i trimmed the hair. :D |
Cosmo's ears are down, I trimmed at the top and they are still down they stand up a little but the front kinda folds over. I think he is adorable with his ears down but I want to see what they look like up, I guess I need to shave them some more. |
Joey's are floppy too - we think he looks sooo cute too. I don't have the patience to try to get his monster ears to stand anyway. We had his ears trimmed, but they just don't look like they are every going to get even close to standing up, and we are fine with that :) |
