can someone please help! I've been trying to find the answer online but couldn't... my puppy is potty trained on the pee pad but people are telling me he needs to go outside but i live in boston and theres a snow storm every other day. can my puppy JUST go on the pee pads... is there anything wrong with that??:confused: |
There is nothing wrong with him going on potty pads. One of mine wont go outside and goes on the pads. If you want to train him to go outside also when the weather is better thats okay too. My other yorkie is ouside trained and pad trained |
Hi! Your puppy can just go on the puppy pads for sure! KiKi is pad trained and I do not take her out in 3 feet of snow to go potty!! She will go potty outdoors in warmer weather...so she is trained to do both!! |
oh good! because the way ppl are telling me, made it seem like i've done something horrible. plus my yorkie doesn't have alot of fur so its way to cold outside. okay my questions answered lol :D |
I would just nod and then do what works for me. |
During winter Cassi only goes on her pee pads. Once the weather warms up she'll go outside to do her potty. |

There's nothing wrong with the pee pee pads. I don't think it's a good idea to walk them, because they can get the salt in their paws. |
I've heard some people say that a dog trained on a pad is never fully housebroken because he thinks it's ok to go inside. I disagree. Ella is 8 months old and has been using her pad (and only her pad) since she was about 4 months old. Even bringing in a new puppy last week hasn't made her miss her pad. She will go outside if she's there, but she doesn't hesitate to use her pad. If using a pad works best for your situation, don't feel guilty about it. |

I personally do not use potty pads. I would rather my dog go outside than inside. I have crate trained fiona, and she was house broken by 3.5 months old. We live in Delaware, which we don't really get taat much snow, but it still does snow and gets cold outside. I just have her going on command, and when its really cold out, she will do her thing outside real fast and then come back in. |
I would guess that there are many people who use pads only. If I lived on the 37th floor of a high rise apartment building in a big city, I doubt that I would be able to take my baby out each time she needed to go.:) I would guess they would come in pretty handy then. Mine is outdoor trained, but we live in a home that is one story, and she just goes a few feet out the back door. You have to do what is best for your situation. Everyone has her own opinion. Yours is right for you.;) |
theres nothing wrong with being trainned on the pee pad mickey hates going out in the winter so he goes to the guest bathrooms i feel like its better to have the puppy pee pad trained rather than outdoor trained only becuase if you're not there to let the dog out, where is the dog supposed to pee? if the dog is pee pad trained and you're not home the dog will know what to do! |
2 of mine use only pee pads and 2 go outside. I let them decide and that's where they chose. |
There is nothing wrong with that! Zoe goes outside but I kinda wish she would use pee pads! |
