What's the Age? ok, I got my yorkie on the 6th of Jan, she was born 14 Nov 2008. If you add month to month she is 10 weeks old. But if you actually add to week by week she is 11 weeks and will be 12 weeks on Friday. I know its not a huge difference, but was just curious. |
I would add week to week... but that's only my opinion. |
I figured it would be week to week. I know it was dumb question, but I have been confused thinking she one age but then thinking she was really a week older than I thought...LOL |
Not a dumb question at all. If you want to say how many weeks she is, then count week to week. If you are going to say she is 3-4months, then count that way. I think that is a personal decision. One thing you know for sure is that she will be 1 on November 14th! :) |
Actually, it is a good question. Properly counting the age can be important: some states specify the age a pup can be before it can leave its mother, airlines have a minimum age for shipping, etc. I have always counted week-to-week. If the pup was born on a Saturday, I look on the calendar and count Saturdays since it was born, starting with the Saturday 7 days after the pup was born. Here in South Africa we have no age limit for separating a pup from its mother :( but the airlines won't ship a pup under 8 weeks, so proper counting of the age matters! |
I think when a baby or puppy is young, then it's best to do it week to week. Once they get older and you start counting in months, then go by the month to month, and so on. I didn't start counting years until my two hit 2 years. The calendar is a very complicated thing when you are trying to figure out exact age! |
This is soooo wild.....I swear- hubby and I were just sitting in the car talking about this very thing....Should we go by weeks or by months....Bevo is our baby....And we keep going back and forth - months -weeks....?????? Joyce |
for the first few weeks, I go by weeks, so, I would say 12 weeks, then when they get to about 4 mos. I start going by mos. Like mine is now 7 1/2 mos and will be 8 mos on the 8th of Feb. It's confusing, because there are 4 weeks in some months and 5 in others. There is 4 extra weeks in a year. I would say she's 12 mos. but, then in March, I would probaby start going by months |
