Im so happy and grateful I found your site! Thank you for it |
Thanks Becki, the picts really help. They all are really cute though aren't they? |
Thank you for info...question? This is my first attempt at joining a forum so please excuse my idiocy... I have a Yorkie, 8 mo old, female...Jetta. Jetta pulls the hair out of her hind quarters over the back and down the legs. She doesn't pull all the hair but it is all about 1/8" long where she pulls the hair. Her coat is sparce but soft and doesn't grow like the others. Someone mentioned a break-away coat? We have switched to organic anti-itch shampoo and conditioner. Basically she doesn't have enough hair, and it is very slow growing and stops before her patellas. We have switched to raw diet and put her on goats milk and probiotics and are hoping this will help but wanted info from folks that know Yorkies. Thanks. |

Thank you Yes, she has been checked for mites and mange with skin scraping. There is also no broken skin or sores or anything like that going on. The hair basically seems to stop growing or break off before reaching her knees. It is super fine and the longer hair is very sparse. |
I never knew what to call this coat type. I have a girl like that and the coat doesn't grow much on the sides. She is so pretty otherwise will that coat be likely to come down to her offspring if I breed her? |
Laddy used to do the same thing then a wonderful member here suggested we mix half vinegar and half water after his bath. Poor it on massage it in and leave it. After a few times of this he stopped chewing his coat. |
Merripups.... I found out the hard way that Daddy did pass down the coat to his offspring. It looks okay if kept in a puppy cut but if you want long hair it just is too thin, wispy and won't get long on his body. I didn't know his coat had this problem until I tried to grow it out as his hair is curly and seemed just okay but very fine. If your Yorkie doesn't have a good coat, I would not breed it as it will perpetuate the problems you are seeing in Yorkies all over. I am scheduled for a neuter this month. 2 puppies from his litter show this coat and theirs is even worse than his. Jetta is his offspring and her coat is really not good. |
