Poor Baby - Teething I feel so bad for Trixie. She already got her adult front teeth (top and bottom) in and the baby teeth out. But now the adult side teeth are coming in and she can't eat her dry food and her doggie biscuits. I'm soaking everything in water... Poor baby... Hopefully she'll get through this teething soon... |
I went through the same thing with Gracie...when she was losing her back teeth she had trouble with her regular dog food...I mixed her regular food with canned food for a while...till her teeth came all the way in...just so she could eat something without a struggle.... |
do you think we could put a gum soothing gel on their poor gums while they are teething? like a baby gel? my poor baileys gums look like they hurt so bad :( |
I used to moist Gucci's dry kibble to make it easier to chew. I dont know about using baby orajel on them, I guess you can ask the vet. You can use Frozen rubber teething rings to help ease the pain of cutting teeth. |
Now Trixie is only licking the water out of the soaked kibble dish... She's trying to eat her doggie biscuits, but even when I put them in little pieces, she can't seem to chew them and keep them in her mouth. Today she started to have diareah (because of soaked food???) and even pooped in her kennel, something she has never done... Is this all because of teething? |
I think when teething sometimes they can get diarrhea, the ears will droop and they will start chewing on everything. Try to have lots of chew toys for her. You can try a kong and freeze teething rings. Since Trixie can't chew the kibble even wet, I will give her some wet canned dog food just to make sure she is eating something. Good luck. |
I handfed her some kibble tonight. She can keep it in her mouth better when she keeps her head up. I am giving her icecubes, which she LOVES. And she does have lots of chew toys... She'll get through it fine. I'm just a nervous new mom ;) |
