Am I the only crazy lady here? Puddin' is my first puppy in nearly 20 years and she arrives in only a week! I have been in a frenzy of shopping...and sewing. Does anybody else sew for their furbabies? I've made a stack of fleece blankets and washable quilted pads and a washable cotton liner for her basket. I have patterns coming for fleece jerseys and PJs, and this weekend I am going to a textiles flea market to hunt for fleece and flannel. Am I alone in this? My husband thinks I am crazy and made eye-rolling faces when I pulled out a crochet hook and some pink yarn last night... |
nope your not crazy your a mom...hubby is the one crazy :) |
Nope......LOL.....I agree with you Graven... hubby is the crazy one!! |
No, you have plenty of company if you call sewing for your Yorkie child "crazy". Not only do I sew, I also cook :D In fact sometimes my human family gets the "left overs" from preparing the weekly food for the furkids. :D :D :D |
I'm so jealous. Wish that I knew how to sew, then I could be crazy too :D |
1 Attachment(s) he,he, join the club sister..:D I sew for my lil ones, I have countless doggy patterns for everything you can fancy.. and you can tell your hubby that my lil Prada even sleeps in a baby's pen next to my bed... ;) she was my 45th birthday present and I spoiled her to not end...LOL she has a closet that is bursting and unlimited toy supply...LOL hugs, cArmen in nj |

LOL NOPE not crazy...I can't sew...but if I could I'd be doing the exact same thing...since I can't sew...I go crazy buying blankets, clothes, toys...I just bought my girls a new collapsible soft dog house for indoors...(which caused hubbys eyes to roll) so I think it's perfectly natural to "go crazy" for our babies!! |
1 Attachment(s) You just wait until that little girl gets her paws on your hubby. He'll never be the same. My DH use to make fun of people who had clothes on their dogs and their hair put up in bows. Now he's worse then me about making sure that Gracie Ruth's hair clips match her outfit. :p He's the one that started putting her hair in pigtails. I had thought of doing it, but just hadn't gotten around to doing it. I came home from work one day and there she was with 2 pigtails AND matching sparkily barrets. :D It's one of her favorite hair styles now. I've started braiding her top knot too. She looks so cute with a braid! Unfortunately DH's 'big man fingers' can't do the braid, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't still try. |
Oh welcome to the world of Yorkie addiction! There are many here just like you:D. Please share pictures when your new little bundle arrives! |
That is so sweet. You are going to be such a good Yorkie mommy. I can't wait to see pics of her modeling all her clothes! |

So, I expect when she gets here, he'll be smitten all over again! |

To the OP, I was the same way, I really think it was a lot like being pregnant and I had the "nesting" instinct. I wanted everything perfect for my new baby. |
NOPE! You're not crazy! I would be doing the same thing to if I knew how to sew. PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO SEW IS SO TALENTED! :D . . . I dont' even have my baby YET and I've already spent nearly $300 on her supplies/clothes/everything else. And I'm still looking! Now am I crazy? haha. |

Yes! That's it exactly!! |
I wish that I knew how to sew!!!! That is so neat! Having a yorkie baby will change your life forever...It is so nice to have some talent and have everything prepared for the new arrival! :aimeeyork |
hehe girl you are certainly not alone:D your hubby should be glad that you can sew, otherwise it would cost him a fortune for all the clothing, bed and blanket, etc. I've had my girls for over three years now, and Im still costantly buying them cute things. they have a whole dresser (a real tall one with 6 big drawers) full of clothing and accessories, and still in need of extra room for storage:eek: |

I started when I was about 7, embroidering dish towels as an activity to keep me occupied while the adults were busy. Then I was allowed to make doll clothes on my grandmother's treadle machine (the theory was that I couldnt' get that treadle going fast enough to hurt myself!). I've done the layettes for my babies, and my daughter was a teen during the Gunne Sax craze...couldn't afford to buy them, so I made them. And now I have a new baby coming to sew for, just tinier and hairier than the first batch!;) |
Nope, not crazy!! My grandma sews for my little yorkie. She has a TON of dresses, coats, and a bed cover. We're also going to start making toys! :) |

Don't they teach sewing in school anymore? If nothing else, a class allows you to learn the difference between a poorly constructed garment and a good one. I often wondered if the popularity of specific brands is a result of people needing someone else to tell them what is well made. |

But I'm glad I can sew...not only has it given me a lot of pleasure over the years, it has saved me a bundle of money and given me many unique items. Now, Puddin' will have a wardrobe of "designer" duds...with Mama as the designer, of course! |
oh nooo...i think thats totally adorable, i go shopping for my baby every week...he gets new clothes all the time...i just feel like he deserves it ...keep doing what you are doing, and have fun with your baby. |
Maybe I should photo some of the stuff and post it. But I have to leave for work now...maybe when I get home. |
Your not crazy:) i can sew but dont have a working machine. So i buy stuff on sale or if it is cute enough that i cant live without it i but it full price. My hubby even puts her in her coat and rain coat to go outside. He even brushes her. So tell your hubby to get into it they all do sooner or later. |
That's why I love this site...we are all like that!!!! One morning about 3a, my husband rolled over and saw me on my laptop. He said, "Tell me you're not on yorkietalk!" I was!!!!! If I could sew or knit, I probably would have been doing that!! Enjoy your baby girl!! |
