dealing with sibling yorkies? Our 1-year old male yorkie is very shy/timid, but with a TON of love and kindness. We just got a 6-month old male from the same people (they are brothers, just from different litters). He's also very shy/timid but loving. They get along really well, but I want to know what to do when they fight for dominance. Should I ignore it? They don't hurt each other, but neither one has established himself as "over" the other, so they'll nip or growl at each other, and the puppy (oliver) steals toys from the 1-year-old (ellington), and ellington doesn't fight back! But, he'll growl and fight for my attention when oliver comes near, but doesn't act on it. HELP! :) |
I have 2 female sibling yorkies. My oldest is 1 year and 2 months and my puppy is 6 months. They have the same mom and dad just different litters. So I am in a similar situation. They love each other so much- it was the best thing I ever did. They are the cutest, but they look nothing alike. They rarely fight, but do steal toys, but I think they love it because they chase each other and have so much fun. Ususally the older sister wins:animal36 |
I have a girl, Gracie Ruth 1 yr old and her brother Yogi 6 mo old and they are great together. I will say that sometimes their 'play fighting' sounds serious, but when I look over at them they aren't even touching, just laying facing each other making horrible noises. Then again sometimes it's full contact but, again, even though they are make horrible noises it's very obvious they are only playing. When the occasional yip does happen, they get told to Quit! and they are right back to playing after a sniff or two to be sure no one has hurt feelings. As long as they know who the true leader is - that would be you :p - then there shouldn't be too much trouble. Just watch that the puppy doesn't bully the older one too much. Puppies just have soooo much energy. And that the older one doesn't dictate when the puppy can come around you. Good luck....and post some pictures!! :) |
I have 2 from the same breeder different parents but they play/fight all the time. It sounds terrible but they love it and they chase each other all over and then snuggle up together. So as long as no one is getting hurt I would let them work it out, |
