Newbie Hi there I am expecting my new yorkie puppy in March it is a little girl. :aimeeyork I am a Mother of 3 boys and a male Lhsa Apso. I am so excited:cheer: to have a female to join my family of males. The one thing I am concerned about is my Lhsa Apso he is 18lbs and is very gentle but I am concerned if they play he may hurt her. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate any help. Thanks:) |
Welcome to YT. Can the breeder give you an adult weight estimate? I'd guess that 5 pounds should be the minimum adult weight, and more would be better. |

Hi :wavey: And welcome to YT!! :welcome4: |
Welcome to YT. I have all males and 1 female. They baby her. She is the Princess and she knows it. Just make sure there is no ruff housing going on. My Scottie loves to run and jump and I have to calm him down so he wont land on my Yorkies. It will be ok. You may need to have her fixed ASAP because if not you will have male aggression. Good Luck and send us pics |
Hello and welcome to YorkieTalk. |
I have several sizes of dogs with tiny Yorkies, you just have to monitor their playing. Always with Yorkies you have to pay attention to everything!!! I'm new too! Welcome! elaine |
Welcome to YT. You might want to keep her inside a baby gated room, so the other dog can smell her, but not get to her. Once he gets use to her scent I would let her out, but keep him on a leash to see how he's going to act. |
Thanks :thumbs up very much for welcoming me. I am so very excited for March for my new fur baby. Once I decided I wanted a Yorkie it took me so long to find a breeder I liked and trusted, so now that that is over, I am finding it hard to keep myself busy and my mind off getting my new Yorkie. So I went and bought 3 books on Yorke's and now that I am done my books I still have to wait. It seems to go buy so slow lol. So when I found this website yesterday I thought this might keep me busy until my baby arrives. Thanks again. |
Congrats on your new little one As a former owner of a Lhasa I think that you'll have no problem with a new puppy I've found that Lhasa's aren't as rambunctious as say shih tsu's and generally older dogs realize that they are dealing with a puppy when they play The tricky part is getting your dog to accept this new little guy because he is going to be stealing the spotlight  Best of luck and enjoy |
Hi... I am a newbie also. I found this website to help my family deal with the loss of one of our babies, and to also help us find another friend for the one still at home. It is a wonderful source of info on all that is yorkie. We have learned so much from the knowledgeable people here. They really go above and beyond to help you. Welcome:animal36 PS... and congratulations on the new baby. |
Hi! :wavey: Welcome! :welcome4: :yorkiesar Congrats on getting your Yorkie, it's a good thing Feb only has 28 days, huh. I don't think you'll have any problems. Gracie was barely 2 lbs when we got her and Boo was 5 yrs old and 10 lbs. He was very gentle with her, even crouching down so that G could 'go for the jugular' when 'killing' him in their play fights. More then protecting G, we had to protect Boo from being bullied by a rambunctious energetic puppy. :p Please post pictures when you can. |
