I use Preemie baby jackets that I found at wall mart for $3.99. Preemie size fits Yumi Yasha perfect ( she is 4 pounds 9 ounces ) but they are to big for Jeter ( he is 2 pounds 12 ounces) I put his step in harness over the jacket to help hold it in place;) I got Axl a new born size and that fits him he is 8 pounds. Also if you have a sewing machine then you can alter the preemie dresses into very cute doggy dresses;) |
Nope. But I've went to the toy department where they have the toy dogs for little girls (with the purses, brushes, and accessories) and looked at the little "toy dog clothes" there! :D |

How cute!! So does the jacket fit your girl even though the arms are out a little different? I went to walmart today and bought some sweaters for only 2.50 but I'm not sure if its going to fit my girl. Shes not going to be tiny like your Jeter so I think she'll be able to fit it. Whenever I go to stores that has baby clothes/stuff I always go and look for my libbie. Its funny cause it makes my BF feel all weird about it. . Especially if we run into somebody we know - they're going to think I'm expecting! LOL . . . and I've had a few people ask me and I say "YES" I'm expecting my puppy on March 20th! |
1 Attachment(s) YEP! I buy preemie clothes at Walmart (specially the little dresses) and make them into clothes for Teddi. This is kind of hard to see in this pic but she is wearing a little preemie dress (I just had to have it taken in but the length is perfect - it's all messed up in the pic but it is the perfect length which is about 9") |
2 Attachment(s) My sister and I have used baby clothes for our furbutts too...We still use onesies...just so there are NO accidents on our floors...and we've also gone shopping at thrift stores to purchase infant clothing.. We have also altered clothing to fit our babies.. I even purchased a full pj's for like 1.00 and altered it to fit Daizy...and it's absolutely adorable!! Here is a pic of her in a onesie (having a bad hair day) and in a babies pajamas.... I think the size was newborn..I just had to cut the legs shorter..and then I just gathered them to make it look like the front feet. |
I've thought of doing this too BUT I don't know what size to get! Chip is about 7 lbs and Smokey is 13. So maybe a newborn size for Chippy and 6-9 month for Smokey? |
1 Attachment(s) Yes, I wanted to take a special Christmas pictures with Joey, but it was hard to find Christmas PJ's in preemie, so we got the newborn size. I shrunk the heck out of them and sewed the sides an inch and made a place for his tail. Since they were just for the picture, I didn't want traditional dog pj's, but you could easily convert them. Here's a picture. |
WOW! Thanks so much for sharing such wonderful ideas. My only problem is I can't sew. LuLu weighs 4 1/4 lbs. Has anyone ever purchased baby clothes that they didn't have to alter for this size?;) |

Premie might work without any alterations, but don't forget the good old fashion way of shrinking. :D |

The onesies at Target are smaller. I needed some for Cocoa after her gallbladder surgery and happened to run across them. Had almost given up because even the preemies at Dillards were too big. The ones at Target are for newborns but are very narrow. Cocoa weighs just a little under 3 lbs. right now and they fit her quite nicely. Do hope, though, that she gains a bit now that she is eating. |

Pad trained..and onesies... Yes I pee pad trained my girls...however I found that it mostly interfered with their potty training....there are WAY fewer accidents now that I removed the pads....and just put them in onesies...you can also purchase small panty liners and line the ONESIES with them if your baby has alot of accidents... I just cut a tiny hole in the bottom for their tail...or if you put them on backwards...you can just leave the middle snap open for the tail to fit thru. It's absolutely adorable...it keeps them warm...and it saves my carpet!! It's a win/win situation!! they do tend to shrink...after so many dryings..so I just buy some every once in awhile...and at a thrift shop...it can't get much cheaper than that.... I can't sew either...but I can stitch up little sides..cut off long feet or legs and YOU can always use Stitch witchery...which requires NO sewing ..just an iron!! |
great idea! I'm going to do just that. And since my fur baby is coming home March 6. . . I'm going to quickly go to the store and run all my little errands before she gets here. =] |
The premie geranimals at walmart are great for Lizzy. She weights just over 4lbs. I cut off the the bottom of the onesie and then sew on a lace or ribbon to finish the edge. |
I have used the baby section in Wal-Mart as well. Newborn fits my girl (around 5 lbs) and with some alterations premies fits my boy (under 3lbs). Its a great steal for doggie clothing considering the prices online, but I have also taken a baby outfit that was on sale (ugly but for $1 cant pass that up) and used it as a sewing pattern/s to make my guys clothing out of cute fabric. |
A couple of friends of mine who have tiny chihuahua's shop at Build a Bear Workshop for clothes for them. They have some super cute little outfits!! |
OH YEAH !!! Kmart all the time........they are just to cute |
