Matting with Belly Bands? Hello everyone, I wanted to get some input on Belly Bands matting the hair. We change out the pads throughout the day but when we take them off in the evening his hair is matted pretty bad on the sides and underneath. Has anyone else had this issue? We have used the ones with elastic and ones without the elastic. Winston's hair is pretty long and I just hate that we had to cut out some of the matts because there was no hope in getting them out :( Thanks in advance! |
Turky doesn't wear belly bands, so I'm not real sure, but perhaps shaving his tummy a little would help in your situation. ? |
i also agree with shaving their belly (almost up to their chin) ... i trim this way and it also keeps the pee from getting in their hair ... then you could try just brushing the side hair towards the rear end to keep it smooth and out of the way? this is what i do with bentley ... not because he marks, but because he cannot seem to get the hang of wee wee pad training  :D |
You could try using a silk or satin belly band, that should help keep the matting down. For my boys, I keep their belly's shaved and every time I take off the belly band to change it, I comb out that area of hair and make sure the hair is parted when I put it back on so that the hair won't matt. |
As long as you comb at least twice a day it shouldn't get too matted. My boys in belly bands are all in short coats so that helps too |
