i use puppy tearless shampoo, i bought it at petsmart. it's called perfect coat studio. you don't have to buy that brand, and you also need a separate shampoo for head and body, i use it because the oatmeal shampoo i got for milu isn't 'tear-less'. yogurt and honey probably will work as well. i didn't use it for milu. i just used the nutri-cal...i was stubborn at first, i thought if i just feed her regularly, i wouldn't need nutri-cal, so i didn't even buy it!!! but yah~ you need it! lol |
here are some shampoos and conditioners that people recommend. :D http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-week-ok.html |
:welcome4: to YT! I'm still new around here and a brand new mommy too!!! We just got our baby girl Thursday 22nd! We renamed her Fancy but her name from the breeder was LouLou - similiar to what you have picked out. I wish I had advice to give but I'm still learning myself. If you have some specific questions use the search box and if you still don't find what you are looking for start a new thread. Everyone is very nice and sooo knowledgeable around here! Get ready to fall head over heels in love!!!! |
Congratulations on your new baby. Always feel free to come on and ask questions when they arise. |

That is great to know! I've order some oatmeal shampoo over the internet for my baby already. Hopefully her skin is going to be okay with that. Thanks so much for all your wonderful help! |

another thing that i will suggest you start thinking about is if you want your baby to sleep with you on your bed. personally, i would really suggest that you don't. while it is REALLY cute to have your baby sleep with you. it is really a pain in the ass too. especially if you have a small dog, then it's even harder. now milu insists to sleep on the bed, which means i dont' sleep well, because i am always waking up to check on her, because i get so worried that i will crush her. but i have started the habit and now it is really hard to break it. oh...and the potty training method of course. if you want to pad train, or have the puppy go outdoors exclusively for potty. |
Know you can't wait to bring that furbaby home, I knited a blanket that stays in my dogs bed, he loves to use it as a pillow, mine doesn't like toys, nor treats that much, at least not this one, there all different so we'll be waiting to hear on your furbaby's habits. |
So many question for this new owner. Help Please! I'm planning to have my puppy sleep on her own bed. Like you've mention - I dont' want to be waking up every few hours to check up on her to make sure she's okay. And I also don't want her wondering off or falling off the my bed in the middle of the night. And about the crate training. I am planning to do pee pads & outside. Is there one that I should start first or should I start doing both right away? I was thinking about pee pads and when she get warm enough I wanted to start training her to go outside. It is going to confuse her? I have a playpen for her. I'm usually gone from 8am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday. Should I have her run loose in her Playpen or should I have her sit in her crate all day until I get home. I have a schedule for her. . .and here it is. For the time in I'm at work I'll have my brother or sister help me with taking her out and potty and feeding her until I get back. * Time * * Activities * 6:00 a.m. Wake up - Bath room outside 6:30 a.m. Breakfast 6:45 a.m. Potty 7:00 a.m. Play time out of playpen 8:00 a.m. Crate time - I leaves to work 12:00 p.m. Lunch – potty right after 12:30 p.m. Libbie’s play time inside cage 1:00 p.m. Nap time in crate 3:30 p.m. Small meal – potty right after 4:30 p.m. Nap time in crate 5:30 p.m. I'm HOME! Potty – Play time out of cage 6:30 p.m. Dinner – potty right after 7 p.m. Play Time / Grooming / Training 8:00 p.m. Nap Time 8:30 p.m. Fourth Meal – potty right after 9:00 p.m. Play time outside of playpen 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. Brush teeth Night Night What do you guys think? About FOOD. I also read somewhere that I should leave food out for her all day long. But if I leave food out all day for her wouldn't she poop and pee all over her play pen? Should I wait to see how her eating habit it first? Cage Water Bottle - the kinds used for ferrets and rabbits. Does anybody use it? I've seen on yorkie owner that had taught his yorkies how to use it and it seems so easy and clean. Does it work for anybody else? Is there any tricks to it? Talking about food what brand would you recommed? So any questions . . . if anybody can help I'll greatly appreciate it! |

you are going to be a very good mommy! lucky doggie!!! you are going to be a great mommy, you haven't even gotten your dog, and you're doing so much to be prepared for your little baby! i never owned a doggie before milu, she is my first doggie. i was so nervous before i got her. i did a lot of research online and i read many books to try to prepare for her. i didn't join this site until a month after i got milu, and didn't start participating until a couple months after that. i would have learned a lot and gotten a lot of support if i had started participating earlier. so i think you are very smart for starting right now! :D (i did ok though, because i went to puppy school with milu and i learned a lot, even though milu was the one that got the diploma) :p |
