Mice 1 Attachment(s) My little 5 month old yorkie has just devoured a mouse except its head will it do her any harm? I thought only cats did that! |
Should not hurt her. A couple of months ago, my boys brought me a live baby possum that we ended up nursing until I located a possum rescue group to take her, then two weeks ago, the boys brought me (in my bed) a dead rat, they have also brought (and eaten) snails, etc. I don't know, everyone says yorkies have sensitive stomaches, but my boys will EAT ANYTHING. |
I don't think it will hurt her. Just watch her for any signs. Coco once killed and ate a baby bird and bought to me as a gift I guess. LOL....I freaked out and was thinking now she had West Nile virus or something but she was fine. |
Haha that's the terrier in them... i dont think it will hurt her. |
Oh my goodness....your kidding! lol Quote:
Oh my....wonder when you will let her give you puppy kisses again? lol :p I hope Sophie is like Villette's Clueless Tessa....and not EVER find a thing..lol ;) :D :D |
My husband's Rat Terrier snacks on birds and mice, etc.... We worm him often... as per Vet.... |
 you're kidding! Well, it is in their nature to chase mice and things of the sort. If I'm not mistaken, they were used for that purpose back in the day. How horrible and funny at the same time. That sweet innocent face |
Back in June the farmer cut and baled the hay field behind our house. This has been a really good year for meadow voles which are about the size of a mouse if you're not familiar with them. Anyway, a family of foxes were having the best time catching and eating the voles and we were watching them when I noticed that my then 4 month old yorkie had wandered into the field. I called him and he turned around to look with me and all I saw was the wiggling back end of a vole sticking out of his mouth. He took off and I chased him all over our yard while he swallowed it. I was so mad! I was sure he would throw it up later, but he didn't and he was fine except for the fact that it was really gross!! |
whoa a whole mouse except the head! how big was this mouse? i dont think it will hurt a yorkie? i dunno though.. you could always call the vet to be on the safe side? and ewwwww |
It won't hurt the dog unless the mouse was diseased. |
Nope, that's what they were bred to do - little mousers. Shouldn't hurt her a bit. I'd praise her a LOT so she'd help. Sabrina thinks that's her job - to let me know when there is a mouse or a bug! She loves going on "search" duty every night before bed. I say "Sabrina, check it out" and her she goes, growling and checking under the bed, the couch, the kitchen cabinets, all around her food bowl, the doors. It's so funny, just growling and then she comes back and we go to bed... |
It could hurt your furbaby if the mice had eaten posion. I am not trying to scare you. I thought Rudy had gotten into rat poison and I panicked. Called Doc and he said the poison with make them bleed internally. Rudy had to have a shot of vitamin K for 2 days and take vitamin K pills for 7 day. I would call the Vet and see what he says. Doc said the reason why dogs die from poison is because by the time you notice they are sick they have already started bleeding internally. I even have Maddie the meds and shots too because I didn't know if she had got in it too. Rudy brought a empty posion wrapper in the house is why I thought they had got into it. |
Mice I would like to thank you all for your replys. Minnie is fine after her Mouse eating experience but it has left me with a bad taste in my mouth! She is very keen in going out in the garden now she has got a taste for it! It really scared me i found her in the bedroom when just the head was left i grabbed her and left the head in the bedroom locked the door till help arrived as i was on my own now im scared she is gonna do it again i know im a wimp where things like that are concerned. im not so keen on puppy kisses at the moment but hoping its like childbirth and i will forget about it soon! |
