hi everyone,

my yorkie is about three months old and ever since i've gotten him i've been buying him random toys here and there from pet stores. but it seems that he doesn't like them. he is just as happy playing with a sock or an old stuffed animal. i just think it's funny how you can spend so much money on an expensive toy at petsmart but then go home and sit the toy or an old sock in front of him and he will more than happily play with the sock. is it like this with anyone elses puppy?? :)

That is strange. Mia loves socks but she also looooves all her toys. She plays with one and then another and then another. I gather them from all around the apartment and then put them all in her crate. In no time the toys are everywhere all over again.
Your little baby may develop a desire for her toys later on.
Mia is 4 months old and at first she was not too into the toys but now she goes crazy for them.

Gracie and Yogi seem to view everything as one of their toys. They play equally as good with a toy brought home from the pet store as they do with a stick or rock or my slipper or a sock or DH's underwear stolen out of the dirty close basket :eek:, or a scrunchie or each other. :rolleyes: Boo's one and only toy that he'll play with/chew on is DH. :p

Petsmart will take just about anything back for a store credit. half used items, things with tags off. I bought a bunch of stuff when I first got Samson and learned during his puppy class about their return policy. I bagged all my stuff and took it back, no receipt and got almost $70 worth of store credit back.

my boy loves his toys, I taught him when he was really little that the only thing he could chew on were his toys. When I come in the house with a bag he thinks that there is something in there for him. :p

Zaira loves the plush squeaky toys. She drags them all over the house. She has a favorite a little purse. We play fetch. She is 2 now and just this week she has become interested in balls. I used to get down on the floor and play with her. She plays with her toys all day and all night. And even takes her teddy bear and her purse to bed with her at night.

My Yorkie, Morkie and Schnauzer all LOOOOVE toys, almost all kinds. They drag them all over the house. But they too like other things like underwear, washcloths, kleenex, slippers. They just like to play I guess, and the whole world is there for that purpose.

Missy loves her toys! The only thing that I've bought her that she doesn't like is her Kong. Everything else has been a go! :thumbup:

Yes, Thor's absolute favorite toy in the world is a dirty sock. He hoards them like some kind of stalker. :D He likes his tiny squeaky tennis balls too, but he's not really into his other toys. I've tried out some plush squeaky toys on him in the pet store because I think they are super-cute, but he always runs away from them! I really think Thor has a chicken somewhere in his family tree.

I ordered the Hide-A-Squirrel recently because it seems to be really popular, and I have high hopes that Thor will take to it. He would definitely love a Hide-A-Pigeon. :) I love that he hates those birds as much as I do. I always let him chase them in the park.

Lucy loves her countless toys - but she's also a sock-rustler and a knicker-nicker! Oh - and our house is a bit like an assault / obstacle course - she scatters toys everywhere (we have to be very careful on the stairs).

Walker loves to play with ANYTHING he can get his little paws on. If he can get the cell charger end he grabs it and runs as fast as he can away from the wall. He loves styrofoam which we try very hard to keep away from him. Any blankets...any pillows. Socks and underwear are his favorite to steal. But he also likes his squeaky raccoon and his tennis balls with a rope in them. We generally make most of his toys since its cheaper.:):)

I guess its like having a toddler in the house, you spend money to get them toys, and they rather play with the boxes that they come in lol.

Every puppy/Yorkie is different....

I have read stories of Yorkies just wanting to play with a toilet paper roll, empty water bottle, dirty sock, etc.

Mine, personally, will play with anything and everything!

I love finding little tiny baby toys at yard sales or from the store...or McDonald's happy meal plush toys. Mojo loves squeakers...so a lot of little plush toys I get, I sew a squeaker into them.

The only thing mine are picky about (regarding toys) are plastic or hard toys....they do not like...and will not even touch a plastic toy or a harder toy?? Don't know why!

---the only hard "toy" they like is the EverLasting Treat Ball...You might want to check those out! They have a flavored treat disk on one side and we fill the other side w/ Yorkie Yummies (from Cindy --- chattiesmom) :dribble:

I also like finding tiny little plush toys...ones that they can carry easily...Mojo plays with these the most...Lily plays w/ the larger toys, so she can sling them around.

Biggie loves all his toys and thinks random household items like cell phones, his food bowl, toilet paper rolls are toys too. :rolleyes:

I think it is awesome that your Yorkie likes socks and old stuffed animals. Sounds like your baby is easy to satisfy.
