Pooping during the nite??? What's up with all of a sudden Nolee needing to poop in the middle of the nite?? He is almost 2, Feb. 9, and he has been waking me up to poop around 1 & 2 in the am. Being not use to it, it really sucks. Anyone been through this?? Why is it happening now? What can I do?:animal36 |
Mine has done it a couple of times over the years. When do you feed him? Mine often finally finishes her dinner around bedtime (10:00) but usually doesn't need to poop during the night. Have you taken him out before you go to bed and told him to poop? Just a thought? Don't know if I have an answer other than it has happened on occasion. |

walking will help them poo faster and if you can get him to go before bed then he should be good for the rest of the night.:D |
strange! mickey's never popped that late... if he needs to go he never wakes us up unless if the door's closed try feeding your dog earlier than in 30 mins take it outside or to the bathroom and if your dog poops, give the dog a treat and praise the dog |
I suggest changing his feeding times. I free feed my dogs usually but because Tucker was waking up in the early a.m to poop (sometimes twice a night) I stopped feeding him after 6 pm and I take him out again right before I go to bed. He now gets up around 6-630 am instead. |
Limiting his evening food and the before bedtime walk is the solution. And when he does squat to poop, say "hurry"...each and every time. After awhile when he hears the word "hurry" he'll know it's time to poop. Winston will hear the magic word and immediately poop...which has been a great help this past week or so beings it's been too dang cold to stand outside waiting for him to find the perfect spot. Good luck!!! |

His last feeding is around 5pm. No later than 5:30. I let him out at 9pm for the last time to potty. I will try your other suggestions. Thank you all. Hope we can straighten this out soon. |

Has there been any changes in his diet? |
if i just let molly into the back gardne before bedtime, she will only wee, but if i take her a quick 10minute walk, 99% of the time, she will do a poo. ;) |

So did she have to poop again late last night? |
My little one went through a phase like that. She would wake me up around 3am to go out and poo. She's a free feeder though, so typically she doesn't eat until the evening which led me to assume why she wanted to poo then. Shes since then gotten out of that phase though *knock on wood* and is starting to eat a meal in the morning and a meal in the evening. |

I have never had them go potty at night...they seem to be pretty much on our schedule...sleep and then get up and go in the morning. Now, that doesn't mean there haven't been times that I haven't gotten up when they were ready to go in the morning  but you get the idea. It sounds like it might be getting under control! :yay_jump: If anything else...maybe just ask your vet about it too. :love-hug1 |
